The experience of producing fishing shows was great training for my eventual role as a Captain. Having fished the coast of the Carolinas for the past thirty years, I now find joy in tailoring fishing trips to meet my guests' needs so they can experience the coast for themselves.
Techniques: Love to cast and retrieve jigs and hard baits for slot reds and trout but my favorite is dead bait and corking for bull reds 40”+ and live baiting for tarpon and sharks. Big fish in skinny water gets me going faster than anything!

Bull reds here early!

Normally bull reds are not here till mid September but NE breeze brought them in early. Looking forward to a great fall season on the big drum!

Troll for Kings or the first few hours without a bump. Went to the flounder hole and brought back two biggest weighed 7 pounds.

Big Red Drum still here!

Went out to check some trolling motor repairs yesterday. Had some extra bait so threw a couple of lines in the water and brought this big guy in within 15 minutes! Giant red drum are here… all that’s missing is someone to catch ‘em.

Bull Red Drum are here for Memorial Day!

Fished with Cpt Ponytail(Rod) on 9/7/24 and even though the weather(windy) and fish didn’t cooperate I still had a great time. Very knowledgeable, clean 26’ Bay Boat, plenty of equipment so you can keep a hook in the water at all times. As the Captain said as we finished up, feel like I’ve made a new friend! Highly recommend.

I highly recommend spending some quality time on the water with Capt Rod Thomas if you enjoy catching fish! I love catching big bull drum and we had a stellar day doing it. Capt Rod is one of the most knowledgeable guides I have fished with and he knows the Bay extremely well. Thanks for a great day Capt Rod and you will see me again!

Great group yesterday with Alice Fort and friends. Lots of laughs, some pretty rough water they laughed through as well… it all paid off when we sat down on biting fish and all three of them got plenty of action and great pictures of epic catches!!!
