- Background
- Capt. Scott Sutherland has been a charter guide on the B.C. coast for the past 40 years. Scott is also part of the ‘Pro Staff’ team for ‘Humminbird’, ‘Cannon’ downriggers and ‘Minn Kota’. Scott has been a big part of the evolution of fishing equipment and technology over this time and a great ambassador to the sport. He owns and operates the ‘Mongoose Striker Fishing Charters’. Over the years he has developed a very good reputation for having the best boat on the coast and the ability to catch fish when others can't. He has a passion for fishing, and his most enjoyable part of it is to see the enjoyment on an angler's face when they are playing one of the great Salmon of the Pacific Northwest while being surrounded by some of the most majestic and breathtaking scenery in the world.
- Techniques
- Capt Scott Sutherland has always enjoyed ' Light Tackle' fishing which gives the angler a great fight and an appreciation of the power of the Salmon of the BC coast. Light rods, single action reels, and 25 lb test line are keys to make this happen. Fishing on the BC coast is greatly aided by the use of downriggers which allows the fisherfolk to troll the deep water. Once the hook-ups happen the line breaks free of the heavy downrigger weight, leaving very little to hinder the full experience of the fight.
