We met Captain Melvin and Cheetah Man in the morning and they were very professional. We soon motored off and picked up some sardines and we were off to the races. We opted for offshore fishing and the captain recommended Tuna. We were down!
We went 30 miles out and saw incredible marine creatures. We saw a shark breach several times and literally hundreds of spinner dolphins swimming in schools, jumping, frolicking and doing crazy spins. Captain Melvin found a fishing spot we hooked an 80 lb tuna in 5 min! Then we fought it for an hour. We had sashimi boat side while we saw whales breaching nearby. We continued on and caught after several attempts landed another 60 lb tuba. It was absolutely incredible. Splash in some swimming and drinking and it was a perfect day.

I had a great, fun time with Captain Melvin, aka Tony.  Took along my 10wt and some flies I hoped would work.  “This fly will hook a fish on first cast,” he said, and it happened.  Tony worked previously with a strictly fly only fisherman, so his “good cast” was informed praise.  He doesn’t carry his own fly tackle, but knows how to help a fly guy catch fish in his territory .  We also caught fish on chunk bait (big, very strong jacks) after other fish had broken off the best flies (we learned a lot, quickly), then rounded out the morning fly casting again, this time to monster milkfish—they didn’t like my fly, but just seeing them busting on top was a treat.  Tony is friendly, flexible, knows the water and where to find fish based on 10 years’ experience fishing out of Quepos.  Boat is clean and comfortable.  Captain always happy, encouraging, upbeat. English pretty good— gaps bridged with smiles and love of fishing.

It was my first OffshoreSession experience in life. I caught two sail’s and it was amazing. The Crew was the perfect mix of professionality, good Service, fun and one of the important things: ,,They love Nature and the Ocean. Everytime we saw Plastic in the water, we grab it. Thats the way of PuraVidaEnQuepos and protest our Planet.🌎
All around it was a complety crazy&amazing day.

We had lots of fun fishing inshore! We booked a half day trip and we ran out of bait we had so much action. Caught multiple species including Jack, rainbow, blue runner, red snapper and big eye jack. Definitely recommend! We sure wish we booked a full day, as it was incredible! The captain was lighthearted, easy going and knew where all the action was. We easily caught 15-20 inshore fish in the matter of 2 hours. Overall, an awesome trip!

We found ourselves in excellent hands with Captain Melvin “Tony” and first mate Eduardo!  They are friendly, helpful, prepared, equipped and very knowledgeable… everything you could hope for to accommodate a party of 3-4.

Their years of experience in these waters came through using both lures and live bait - even in suboptimal circumstances (we came to CR during the rainy season when the waters were cloudy).

Despite this and one of my sons succumbing to sea sickness (note to self: next time bring anti-nausea tablets), we landed a 20lb Jack, which was a thrilling challenge to bring in.

I would highly recommend Wahoo Sport Fishing and we will definitely be back in touch for round two next time we’re in Costa Rica.
