Muelle de Quepos
Quepos, PU, Costa Rica

There's a fish with your name on it in Quepos and Wahoo Sport Fishing Quepos will help you catch it! With Captain Melvin at the helm, you're in knowledgeable and experienced hands.

Top targets include Amberjack, Pacific Barracuda, Mahi Mahi, Broomtail Grouper, Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Roosterfish, Snook, and more if conditions allow. You can expect to do some spinning, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Melvin also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear. For the more adventurous among you, there's spearfishing.

Capt. Melvin believes in teaching kids to fish while they're young, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Snacks are also a good idea to stay fueled throughout your trip!

Capt. Melvin runs a 24' Center console with space for 4 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Capt. Melvin will supply rods and reels for you, along with lures. Live bait is available, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.

There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.

Before coming aboard, you may be required to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.

It's never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), and a hat. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks included on board.

Fishing Trip was okay.
Full Day Trip – Inshore on May 22, 20264 adults
Our fishing trip was good overall, but we were hoping for a little more based on what we had communicated ahead of time. We had mentioned that we'd love the chance to catch a rooster fish, but we were also completely open to catching anything. Once we got on the boat, we realized we only had bait for rooster fish, which limited our options for the rest of the day. I told the captain several times that we didn't mind switching things up and catching something different, but we continued trolling and ended up catching just one fish during an all‑day inshore trip. On the positive side, the captain and first mate were amazing — very friendly, knowledgeable, and familiar with the area. When we asked to stop and swim, they were more than happy to make that happen, and we appreciated that. The views were absolutely beautiful, and we enjoyed being out on the water. I just wish that for the price we paid, we could have had the chance to try for a variety of fish, especially since we expressed that we were open to anything. The crew was wonderful, but the experience itself could have been more flexible.

Great Day With Captain Adril and Esteban
Full Day Trip – Offshore on February 18, 20262 adults
We fished offshore with Captain Adril and first mate Esteban last week and had an excellent trip. We hooked 4 sailfish and landed three. The fourth went crazy and airborne 30 feet behind the boat and broke off. The crew worked hard to hook every fish that came into our spread. This was a smaller boat but was well equipped. There were plenty of soft drinks, water, snacks and excellent sandwiches. Esteban even cut up an ice cold pineapple for us. This was a great experience for my son-in-laws first offshore trip. I highly recommend Wahoo Sportfishing, Captain Adril and first mate Esteban.

10/10. Snook, Rooster and catfish
Half Day Trip – Inshore on February 15, 20262 adults
It was a pleasure and great experience chartering with wahoo sport fishing out of MARINA Pez Vela on February 15, 2026 Captain Andrew and mate Greibin were very knowledgable of the fishing grounds from catching bait fish to landing three different species of fish. This was a very hands-on charter for my wife and myself and extremely happy on the entire trip… from the cold beverages to the mid afternoon, fruit, snacks, and of course, catching snook, rooster, fish, and catfish. I definitely recommend Wahoo Sportfishing for a day out on the water! Thank you again, guys for a great experience here and beautiful QUEPOS, Costa Rica Pura Vida

Great day fishing in Quepos
Half Day Trip – Inshore PM on January 15, 20263 adults
We are inexperienced fishermen and booked a half day afternoon inshore trip with Captain Melvin's boat Wahoo and his crew, Adriel and Zachary. We met Captain Melvin at the pier, and had a little trouble finding the right spot - it is not at Marina Pez Vela but keep going down the same road to the very end. Adriel and Zachary did a great job setting us up and we went out and caught four Amber Jack right away. Next we moved to a different spot and caught a Spanish Mackerel. After that, we trolled along the beach and caught two Rooster fish. Had a nice snack with fresh pineapple and then headed back to the dock at 5. We had a great time and really appreciate our crew. Highly recommend the experience and we will book again next time.

Great Fishing, Great Crew, Even Better Day
3/4 Day Trip – Inshore on January 4, 20262 adults
I had an amazing fishing trip today after chartering this boat for just me and my girlfriend with the goal of targeting roosterfish. The crew was on it from the very start — we were the first boat out of the harbor and the first to reach the baitfish grounds, which really set the tone for the day. The fish were biting all day long. A lot got off, but that was on me, not the crew! Thanks to their experience and guidance, I still managed to land two solid roosters. These guys absolutely know what they're doing and will put you on fish. On top of the great fishing, the hospitality was outstanding. There were plenty of beers and cold drinks, loads of snacks throughout the day, and fresh pineapple served on board — honestly some of the best pineapple I've ever had. As if that wasn't enough, we were treated to seeing dolphins on two separate occasions and even spotted turtles, which made the trip even more special. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for a top-tier fishing experience. Very experienced crew, great vibes, and an unforgettable day on the water. 🎣🐬

Hi Simon, thank you so much for taking the time to share such an amazing review. We’re truly happy to hear that you and your girlfriend had such a great day on the water and that we were able to help you achieve your goal of landing roosterfish. Our crew works hard to make every trip special, from getting an early start to finding the right bait and spots, so your words really mean a lot to us. We’re also glad you enjoyed the hospitality on board — especially the fresh pineapple! 🍍 It’s always a bonus when nature puts on a show, and we’re happy you got to see dolphins and turtles along the way. We would love to welcome you back anytime for another adventure, whether it’s inshore or offshore fishing. You’ll always be more than welcome on our boat. Tight lines, and we hope to see you again soon! 🎣🌊
