Capt Jack and Dillon offer the best possible all around fishing experience one could have in Kona Hi

We hopped aboard the Huntress, a beautiful 42-foot boat run by Captain Jack and his first mate, Robert. Let me tell you, that boat was top-notch – roomy, cozy, and spick-and-span, with engines that could zip like nobody’s business.

We had a good number of bites out there. Released a couple of Spearfish, but darn it, lost a massive 400-pound Blue Marlin. We also felt some action that we reckon was Yellowfin Tuna (Ahi) and another Spearfish. The trip started with a quick rundown on handling the equipment and facilities on the boat. Just 30 minutes after leaving the harbor, we had our first bite.

Kona’s a cool spot for fishing – you can snag some big game fish not too far from shore. Pretty neat. Overall, the boat, the crew, and the fishing were all top-notch, making for some awesome memories.

Here’s hoping we’ll return someday for another go at it!
