I booked a 5 hour morning session for my sons birthday present with what I thought was directly with “Capt Jesse Vereen” on Shallow Minded Fishing several weeks before our trip. I received a confirmation through fishingbooker.com. The reason I selected this charter was due to the positive feedback on Capt Jesse Vereen. I sent several messages to Capt Vereen and got no response. Finally the day before our trip I got a message through fishingbooker.com from Capt Vereen that “we are good to go”.

The morning of the trip we arrived early and I had some concerns going in. There seemed to be alot of people there at the dock and I was worried that there were more fisshing parties there than appeared to be boats. As it turns out Capt Vereen manages a “fleet"of boats. I finally found Capt Vereen and it turned out that my trip was doubled booked with another party, so there was one group too many for the fleet to support. It was determined that my group of 4 - my wife, son, daughter in law, and myself had reserved earlier than another family party and that he had to go tell them they would not be making a trip that day. Additionly, we would not be going out with Capt Vereen who I had wanted the trip with because he was taking another group out on a ocean trip vs inshore trip and that we would be going out on with one of his fleet crew.

We went out with Darren and Darren did get us on fish and I greatly appreciate everything he did to accomdate us. We did run out of bait, which, should be a no-no. We went and retrieved what was left of some shrimp in a barrel cache and utilized the bottom of the barrel. Again not really Darrens fault more the fleet and management team not being appropriately prepared.

Thank you Darren for your putting us on fish and doing everything you could for us. Capt Vereen and “Shallow Minded” fishing you need to do a much better job of managing and communicating to your clientele as well as ensuring your fleet is properly setup with ample bait and supplies.

The fishing trip was somewhat successful but there was a party sent home who thought they were going fishing that was disappointed and I’m sure angered. I was disappointed on how the whole thing played out but my family had fun thanks to Darren. Just trying to ensure you know what you may be getting both good and bad if booking with Capt Jesse Vereens and Shallow Minded Fishing fleet.
