Clearly the pic above is a Bull Red, but the trout I prepared from some of our catch is outstanding. I went on the trip for redfish, but am very pleased with the trout catch. Our initial reservation was canceled by that captain a week before we traveled from all over the country for this trip (Indiana, Ohio, Texas, and Louisiana) so we were glad not only to replace that trip, but fortunate to have Pelican as the replacement.
Captain Jimmy did an excellent job of putting us on fish, knowing when a spot went cold/when to move on, explaining the what and why of what we did, and took excellent care of all 4 of us - from my adult kids (daughter pictured) to my 86 y.o father. It wasn’t the first in-shore trip for any of us and this was among the best experiences we’ve had. He’s personable and polite, and remembered all our names after our first meeting. He did his best to make sure we got the day we were after, and that’s super important to me. He wasn’t watching the clock for a reason to end the day like I’ve seen in reviews of other charters. I highly recommend Jimmy (Shaw?) and Pelican.

Great trip out with John and Reno! Would recommend to anyone looking for a good time.

Could not have asked for a better experience! Chill vibes! So much room on the boat it was unreal, lay out as you glide through the water. Will def be booking again with pelican charters!

Went offshore fishing on a 2 day charter with the knowledgeable and entertaining Captain John. He was very attentive and made sure everyone on board was enjoying themselves and catching some awesome fish! He definitely loves what he does and really made the experience great, we had such a fun time on the water and can’t wait for our next offshore trip!
