The Captain made the best of the situation after having a slow morning bite near shore trolling for spanish mackerel.  He was clear with us that he would rather take us out a little further with a little less fishing time but a chance for a few bigger fish rather than no or few small fish near shore.  He and his mate (Fox) came through on the troll with several bites and landing a barracuda, rudder fish, large spanish mackerel, and half of a king mackerel thanks to a hungry barracuda.  Trolling... Jeremy and first mate did a great job…while also involving us in the decision making.  In AM, weather was a bit iffy, but they made the best of it. We ended up with 9 King Mackerel. Possible opportunities to make even better - the equipment seemed a bit heavy for the 25-30 inch fish - while efficient in terms of landing fish, cranking in a 10 lb fish on a down-rigger isn’t overly satisfying.  While w ended up targeting the one species, in retrospect, it might make for a more interesting... Captain Jeremey and First Mate Fox were excellent with the kids. We trolled for the first 4 hours catching Spanish Mackerel and then did some bottom fishing. The kids preferred the bottom fishing because of the constant action. There was fun for the entire family, and plenty of fish to bring of for several meals. The highlight had to of been the 3 foot shark we caught while bottom fishing. I’d recommend these guys to any one.

Outstanding trip. I should have booked an all day! Will definitely be back in September!
