The bite was slow at first we were throwing top water plugs with no luck.  When the sun came up higher in the sky we were able to see the Peacocks on their nests. After a learning curve on sighting and flipping the jigs at close range we were able to catch some good fish.  Over all good experience, the only thing I can say negative was we weren’t able to get under a bridge due to the amount of rain in the area in the past week. Captain Fred was knowledgeable and a great guide.

Captain Goudey is what you’re looking for in a guide. Personable, knowledgeable, and somebody you actually enjoy spending the day with.
We had a nice day for early February and he was able to put us on fish in several different ways over the course of a half-day charter. Lots of fun.
His boat is the perfect ride for getting in the skinny water and boogieing across the bay.

We are 2 adults and a 9 year old. All inexperienced. Jeff was great with our (occasionally grumpy) 9 year old. He was knowledgable and took us to several spots. The fish were not cooperating at first but Jeff just kept it moving, and eventually found a great spot were we caught a few big enough to take home.

Captain Fred is as good as they come, no doubt like his other local fishing boat Captain friends.  We saw four bald eagles which Fred radioed to the other guys for them if they wished to share with they’re clients, that’s good will.  Then he jumped into the water to save a fish on line, three feet deep, but he did it!  Didn’t have to.  Took us out of his way out to the ocean for legal dinner fishing.  Caught a Triple Tail and filleted it for us which, not everyone will do these days.  Great eating for two nights.  Will look to book Fred when next we get to the area!  Thanks Fred it was great to make your acquaintance!

I really liked Fred’s captaining. He wasn’t controlling but he helped and let you do your own thing. If you wanted to cast your own he was okay with that and my wife needed help and he was happy to do that. I’ve met a few charters that if you got snagged or tangled while casting they would be upset. That’s not Fred, he’s calm and willing to help and he seems happy to do it. The boat was great! I wouldn’t eat off the deck but heck who would it’s a charter! But we felt comfortable the moment we walked on. His equipment isn’t the most expensive but it more than gets the job done. I saw someone earlier say it wasn’t up to their standards and that guy must hold some high standards. Because at first I couldn’t cast under the trees to save my life. And by the end I was hitting right where I wanted to. I also don’t think that was my skill but the good equipment

We caught 6 Sea trout in a matter of seconds when we pulled up to the spot. He cleaned them and got to take them home. We also caught a snook which was fun! I wasn’t thrilled with the amount of fish we caught but I also know some days you’re just luckier than others. I think Fred is really really good fisherman and knows goods spots I think the fish just didn’t bite all day. But heck that’s the way it goes. We also got to watch him collect his bait which was a unique experience! I would normally be upset if the charter got bait while we were supposed to be fishing but Fred kept us about an hour and half past our 3 hour mark so we had more time then we signed up for.

Overall like I said I think the boat and captain are great! We limited on trout so I was very pleased but I think for other fish the day just wasn’t right for them. I would love to try again with Captain Fred!
