Good fishing trip for all ages and skill levels, were able to catch fish, move to several locations and enjoy our time on the water while being taken fishing by an excellent and experienced boat captain. We also took home a couple bags of catfish filets. Will be frying up them up tomorrow!!!

My daughter Elizabeth and I had a fantastic morning on the Potomac River with Capital Blues on August 5th. Captain Owen was professional, knowledgeable about the area and fishing, and made sure our lines were always tended. We caught several catfish, including a 12-pounder! He was incredibly accommodating—picking us up and dropping us off at our preferred location—and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommend!

My partner and I hired Owen to show us the ropes when it comes to fishing the Potomac, and we certainly got our money’s worth.  Owen is knowledgeable about fishing and the river, and he’s easy going and enjoyable to talk to.  Moreover, the boat is comfortable, and he came prepared on what turned out to be a chilly evening with extra jackets, blankets, and a heater.  (If you’re going out in hot weather, the boat is equipped with a large canopy.)  As for catching fish, we didn’t go more than 10 minutes, if that, without reeling in a good sized fish, and I actually caught the two largest fish of my life—one a 23lb catfish.  Owen offered to fillet them for us, but we opted to throw them back.  We will certainly recommend him to our family, friends, and neighbors!

Captain Owen gave us an easy pickup in town and we were on the river and on the fish in no time.  He was great at making the trip really fun for my 10, 9, and 6 year olds - spending some time teaching fishing tips and other time telling the history and stories of the coves and bridges we passed.  My family of five had a great time and caught more fish than we could possibly need, and Capt Owen donated the remainder to charity.  My 10 year old is over the moon at landing a 36 pound, 42 inch blue catfish that he’ll remember the rest of his life.  There are some charter boats that allow bookings for kids, but that’s a big difference from Capt Owen who really seemed to welcome and enjoy our kids and tailored the trip to their enjoyment.  Thanks so much, we will book again!

As a family of five with three young kids (ages 8, 6, and 2) trying fishing for the first time, Captain Owen made sure we all had an unforgettable experience. He was incredibly knowledgeable and went above and beyond to ensure that each of us caught a fish, making it such a fun day for the whole family. His patience and skill with the kids were outstanding, and he even helped us with cleaning and filleting our catch, which was a huge help. We’d definitely return for another trip on the Potomac River with Captain Owen – highly recommend for families and first-timers!
