Listen to your captain!  I originally booked a four hour inshore trip, planning for speckled trout and other inshore fish.  On the morning of the trip, Capt. James recommended we try going out nearshore due to the quality of the inshore waters, which were stained from recent rains upstate.  Great advice.  We motored out for about 30 minutes, the two of us, on essentially a brand new boat, smooth, clean and easy to fish.  Dropped a line in 60-65 ft of water and got a hard bite on the first cast.  Lost that one, but it was steady with red and vermillion snapper for the next hour.  Reds out of season so just brought home the vermillion.  Hooked the amberjack about midway through that hour and it took a good 15 minutes to boat. 
Captain James is knowledgeable, personable and a very pleasant fishing partner and mentor.  He cleaned the fish dockside and packed them in ice for my return home.

We booked an 8 hour offshore trip that was interrupted by a tropical storm. Captain James worked to move the trip out one day in hopes the post storm weather would be better. It was better but still too rough to make it out to our target spots. Captain James had not booked the next day due to his son’s wedding but agreed to cut our first attempt short and try again the next day. He did not have to do that, but he did. He wanted us to have the experience we planned. Super great guy, with great equipment. If you are planning a trip out and his calendar is open you are missing out if you don’t book Captain James.

Capt. James is an excellent guide and just plain fun to spend a morning with. My wife and I spent the morning catching quite a few of the “endangered” red snapper, which were sadly our of season, before Capt. James got us onto some keeper fish. We cut the trip a little shorter than we would have liked due to the wind, but that’s where I also want to give the Captain his dues. He cares about your safety and comfort. If your hesitant about going a little offshore for the first time, or maybe about taking your kids, this is the charter for you. We will definitely back to get after them again. Thank you James and Erica for getting us scheduled this week and for a wonderful trip!

My husband, father and I all wanted to book a deep sea fishing trip on our visit to Fort Morgan. It was our first and we haven’t been to the area much so I got on fishing booker to investigate on local captains and came across Captain James; I also found his company’s Facebook page (Bluewater charters LLC) and saw he had phenomenal reviews so I booked him… and man am I glad I did! He was the nicest, most friendly guy, extremely knowledgeable and personable! We caught quite a bit of fish and he worked very hard to put us on fish during our trip! When we come back to the area we will undoubtedly be giving him a call! His equipment and boat are all top quality but overall his friendly and courteous personality was what set him apart!! Thank you Captain James! I wish I hadn’t battled sea sickness and could have fished more but we really enjoyed our time with you, can’t praise you enough!!
