- Background
- I can’t tell you the first time I caught a fish at the Outer Banks but I can tell you that most of my greatest memories growing up have been centered on fishing around Hatteras Island. I have a true passion for fishing, which has led me to fish at a competitive level for most of my life. After graduating from high school, I was lucky enough to further my education and am currently finishing my Doctorate Degree at the University of South Carolina. During my time in school I have represented multiple universities in Bassmaster, Boat U.S. and FLW college bass fishing events. I currently represent the Gamecock Bass fishing team during the most fruitful time of its existence. Together, we have won back-to-back FLW national championships and already have two teams qualified to compete in the 2017 National Championship. During my experience as a competitive fisherman. I have represented a number of leading brands in the fishing industry including: Berkley, Lews Reels, ALX Rods, Costa etc.
- Techniques
- One thing I love about fishing is the ability to transfer your knowledge of one species of fish to another species of fish, which can help you catch more effectively and in a variety of circumstances. I’ll never forget one day in July. It was dead calm and the trolling bite had become non-existent. The fish were there, but they’d just become so finicky. We could find schools of mahi-mahi but they wouldn’t even eat a live mullet. I went down in the cabin and pulled out one of my bass set-ups and tried a tactic that I had learned from fishing heavily pressured clear water lakes. After that, we turned the day around in a hurry. Ever since then, I have spent a lot of time coming up with different ways to catch offshore fish. Through my experiences, I have created a unique style of fishing. I am currently working with a number of different companies to create prototypes for different applications that capitalize on the unique methods I’ve discovered while fishing.
