Background
I can’t tell you the first time I caught a fish at the Outer Banks but I can tell you that most of my greatest memories growing up have been centered on fishing around Hatteras Island. I have a true passion for fishing, which has led me to fish at a competitive level for most of my life. After graduating from high school, I was lucky enough to further my education and am currently finishing my Doctorate Degree at the University of South Carolina. During my time in school I have represented multiple universities in Bassmaster, Boat U.S. and FLW college bass fishing events. I currently represent the Gamecock Bass fishing team during the most fruitful time of its existence. Together, we have won back-to-back FLW national championships and already have two teams qualified to compete in the 2017 National Championship. During my experience as a competitive fisherman. I have represented a number of leading brands in the fishing industry including: Berkley, Lews Reels, ALX Rods, Costa etc.
Techniques
One thing I love about fishing is the ability to transfer your knowledge of one species of fish to another species of fish, which can help you catch more effectively and in a variety of circumstances. I’ll never forget one day in July. It was dead calm and the trolling bite had become non-existent. The fish were there, but they’d just become so finicky. We could find schools of mahi-mahi but they wouldn’t even eat a live mullet. I went down in the cabin and pulled out one of my bass set-ups and tried a tactic that I had learned from fishing heavily pressured clear water lakes. After that, we turned the day around in a hurry. Ever since then, I have spent a lot of time coming up with different ways to catch offshore fish. Through my experiences, I have created a unique style of fishing. I am currently working with a number of different companies to create prototypes for different applications that capitalize on the unique methods I’ve discovered while fishing.

Captain Ethan works very hard to put fish in the boat. He is also personable and friendly.
