Capt. Johnny Maddox runs offshore game fishing trips around the beautiful waters of the Florida Keys. With over 50 years of fishing experience, Capt. Johnny has extensive knowledge of the local fisheries and techniques that work. At an early age, Capt. Johnny was fishing with his dad in the Pay lakes in Southern Ohio, looking for Catfish and Blue Gills. He has also fished the bayou outside of New Orleans for Redfish, and went out to the oil rigs for Amberjack and Grouper, among other species. He then went over to Jacksonville, FL, in 1977 and fell for the blue water.

    Awesome experience!

    Full Day – Offshore Mahi or Combo • 4 adults

    Captain Brian and first mate Cody did an excellent job! We had to postpone our Tuesday trip because of weather. So glad we did! Thursday we show up at the dock at 730 were on the Ocean by 8. Captain Brian gets on fish right away for the morning bite! After bagging some nice Mahi we trolled around looking for tuna. We stumbled across a sea turtle wraped in fishing gear and spent better part of 30-40 mins untangling the poor turtle. What an experience being able to help that animal out of a sure death situation. It was very gratifying. Best part was the fish gods returned the good carma and gave us a quadruple tuna hit just before going back to dock! Hellz yeah! 8 nice Mahi 4 nice Black Fin, and one saved sea turtle!!! Couldn't have asked for a better day with any other crew!! We would highly recommend Papa Papa charters and Captain Brian and First mate Cody!!! Thanks guys for the incredibly awesome experience!!

    Another Great Trip

    Half Day – Reef Inshore Gulf (AM) • 2 adults

    For the fifth year in a row we fished with Johnniy Maddox Charters. This was our second charter this year so far. Captain Brian always puts on the fish and Mate Cody has the rods ready for action and is quick to unhook fish and get us rebaited for another hook up. Fishing with these guys is like fishing with a couple of your buddies. This trip we had 15 yellowtails and a mutton. When we got back to the dock Brian and Cody cleaned and filleted the catch ready to go to Lazy Days for a great dinner of fresh fish. Thanks Captain Johnny, Captain Brian, and Cody

    Great Charter on a rough day

    Full Day – Offshore Mahi or Combo • 5 adults • 1 child

    First of we had a great Capt and Mate! they tried there absolute hardest to get out there and find the fish but tough conditions made it impossible. we did mangage to end up with a great bunch of yellow tail for the box. Would recommend this charter for anyone looking to book in this area.

    Great trip!

    8-10hr–BigGame Bluewater Mahi Tuna • 4 adults

    Captain Brian and Cody were great! They worked their butts off and put us on the fish. Brian spotted birds way off multiple times and we capitalized with some Mahi. I would definitely recommend going on this charter if you want to get on the fish.

The rain finally eases off in October, and the temperature drops back to a sane 85. The Tuna are at their height this time of year, with Yellowfin and Blackfin biting well offshore, and the Tarpon and Snook are still filling up the shallows.
