With the weather finally starting to warm up the fish are getting more and more hungry. The bite is picking up in the Tomoka River along with the Tomoka Basin in Ormond Beach. Redfish are on the move with this warming trend. You can find the fish on mud flats with scattered oysters and bait. In the Daytona Beach on the Halifax River you can still find fish on the docks and bridges. Ive seen an increase of Snook activity around Ponce Inlet in Port Orange along with some Trout and Reds. I’ve been using shrimp, finger mullet and mud minnows to get all my bites. I also have seen an increase on artificial bites as well. This is a good thing because the next thing to heat up is the top water bite of spring.

If it’s fish you’re after, Cap’n Billy’s your man. My wife and I went out on a half-day trip with Billy. First, for Redfish, Billy took us to three places and we hooked up in all three places, with a four pound trout as a bonus. Then we went to a final location where we caught Snook, Mangrove Snapper, Sheepshead, Pompano, and Jack - all while anchored in one spot. Best fishing day ever. Thanks much, Billy! Booked full day with Billy for my son, Grandson and myself. Had hoped to go offshore but conditions didn’t permit. Fished Halifax River. Fish were on as soon as our bait hit the water!! Billy put us right on em. Fished the morning with non stop action on medium action gear. We had a blast! Boated 7 different species!
