The boat was nice, well kept and comfortable.  I had some trouble getting some responses from John leading up to the trip - sometimes it took 2 tries to get a response.  The location and time was changed the night before which wasn’t a big deal as the new place was not too far and it was an hour later in the day.

The fishing was hit or miss.  We stopped at 4 or 5 spots but didn’t have much luck.  Lots of catfish, small snappers and jacks.  Had one good fish on but ended up getting broke off on the motor - but that is how it goes sometimes with fishing.  We didn’t see many other boats pulling in fish - so I think it was just one of those days.

My only complaint was the first hour of the trip was spent running 10-15min to a spot to go cast net for bait and then to the first spot.  So only got 3 hours of rods in hands.

My advice would be go for a longer charter so you can get more time on the rods so you have better chance landing some fish.

had a great 1/2 day trip with capt john yesterday with my 13 yr old son.  despite windy conditions and cloudy water john put us on fish and we both caught about 10 or so including one good size jack apiece.  Great memories and will definitely go back with John again next time we are down in Marco.
