After having done a lackluster fishing trip with the business neighbors of our airbnb, my brother and I went out with Captain Wilfred and had a blast. He knows his stuff, he drove us out to the middle a non-descript bay area and used his GPS to drop anchor and told us where to cast. We caught red snapper and yellowtail snapper for about an hour until we had bagged 9 or so, which was more than we would eat so we stopped keeping them. After that, we targeted some trophy fish and my brother and I each caught barracuda. I had a monster get off that was probably my fault.  He definitely will tell you what you did wrong and how to correct it. The only criticism I would have of Captain Wilfred is he wants to see you catch fish so bad that he almost comes off as angry/disappointed when you make a mistake and one gets away…  Still definitely a 5-star captain that I would gladly go back with again!

We always prefer to book our own tours and try to choose locals instead of big companies. We definitely hit the jackpot with this one!! We had such a great day with Captain Wilfred. He is a native of Belize and he knows his stuff! He’s very informative and answered all of our questions about the Belizean people and the culture as well as what his life was like growing up here. He was so personable and very easy to talk to. The weather was not ideal, but he helped us make the best of it. Because of the weather/full moon (as he explained) we didn’t catch very many fish. Just enough for Captain Wilfred to make the BEST lunch we’ve had so far on the island! The lunch and snorkeling more than made up for the lack of fish. He served up fresh ceviche, fish made 2 ways (seasoned and grilled and grilled with bbq sauce/fresh vegetables), coconut rice and potatoes with onions. My daughters who do not eat vegetables or fish AT ALL, both claimed it was their favorite meal so far. They went back for seconds AND thirds…amazing!! We then went snorkeling along the reef. It was the best snorkeling we’ve ever done…rough waters due to the wind, but totally worth it. We saw sharks, 3-4 different types of rays, too many fish to mention and beautiful underwater corals. It was a GREAT day and we would highly recommend this tour with Captain Wilfred. It couldn’t have gone better!

We had an awesome day with captain Willie. Communicating plans with him was super easy and he picked us up right from our hotel dock. We spent a few hours fishing and he was greatly helpful in teaching me how to fish (I’m a beginner). He then took us to a beautiful private beach and cooked for us. His ceviche was to die for and the fish, potatoes, and rice he cooked was the best we had on our trip. Afterwards, he drove us to the other side of the island where we snorkeled and saw lots of marine life. The weather on our day with him was very windy and rainy and it was still our favorite part of our trip here in Belize. Would definitely recommend!!

We went with Captain Wilfred on an amazing fishing trip!!! My boyfriend caught a lot of fish and the captain cooked it all up. Seriously the highlight of our trip and the best food we all in all of Belize. So many unique flavors that I’ll be dreaming of for years to come. He is so knowledge when it comes to the history of Belize, the culture, and how to fish in that area. Without a doubt, next time we are in Belize we will be booking another trip with him. If you’re going with someone who doesn’t fish (like myself) you’ll enjoy the time on the water, the snorkeling, and the food!  I can see why the Captain has so many 5 star reviews. We were excited and looking forward to book this fishing trip that includes the cookout with your catch and snorkeling to wrap up the day. Captain Wilfred had 35 years of experiences and knowledge provided us an awesome day. It was one of the best trip we’ve been on all our travels around the world. It was just me and my wife on this fishing boat and I’m glad it turned out to be a memorable day with lots of fish catching. Seems like he knows all the secret location for lots of catch. Captain Wilfred made it fun and the meals he prepped up was delicious . He pulled up to his secret island spot and started cooking the food for us.  Especially the conch that was caught when snorkeling , he made one of the best conch ceviche hands down . He also grilled up the fishes we caught and threw in some Mayan flavors also. Everything he served was good and we was so full and satisfied after that meal. I would recommend captain Wilfred if you want a memorable fishing day.
