Had one of those trips today that just reminds you why we do this. Rolled out for a 6-hour with a good group, flat calm, clean water and you could just tell it was setting up right. Ran out to about 100 feet, idled over a few spots, and the screen was already lit up before we even got tight. First dropโ€ฆ thump. Second rod downโ€ฆ thump. Then it just didnโ€™t stop. We got into a pile of grouper that were ready to fight. Not the kind you baby either, these fish were digging straight back to the rocks, trying to break us off every chance they got. Had to stay on them, keep pressure, and earn every single one that came in the boat. Couple real nice fish in the mix too. Thick, mean, exactly what you want to see. The boys did a great job, and once they got the feel for it, it was game on. There were stretches where Iโ€™m pretty sure we didnโ€™t have a bait down for more than a minute without getting bit. Thatโ€™s about as good as it gets for a half day. Ended the trip with a solid box of fish and a lot of tired arms. Always a good sign. Days like this donโ€™t need a lot of hype, just good conditions, the right spots, and people willing to put in a little work. If youโ€™ve been thinking about getting out there, nowโ€™s the time. Captain Alec has been fishing for these grouper his entire life. On this drop, he tied his personal best with another 36โ€ Red Grouper! Right after this video, he dropped another bait down and instantly caught a 34โ€ Red Grouper. The gulf is such an amazing place.

Our 12 hour trip this week produced a trophy sized African Pompano! We went out on Sunday, with rain storms and wind all around us. We were the only boat out there thats for sure. The 39โ€™ frontrunner ate up a 3-4โ€™ sea state with grace. We even had people sleeping it was so comfortable. While other companies are canceling trips, we are getting naps in on our way 100 miles offshore. We quickly got to work on grouper and snapper. We even put some cobia in the boat. We found new bottom 15 miles off of the Dry Tortugas. After a few hours, we left here and went to a wreck nearby. We caught multiple big AP with this being the largest. One heck of a day and a slicked out ride home!
