- Background
- I have lived in Seattle since 1968 when I was just 3 years old. Born in San Diego, I was first hooked on fishing when my Grandpa took me out on a Charter Boat while revisiting San Diego at age 9. I was instantly amazed at the diversity of the Sea. For years I fished any time I had the chance, riding my bike down to the dock loaded up with poles, crab pots and a 15 foot net required to land salmon from a dock at low tide. I’m sure it looked ridiculous. I bought my first boat at age 15 before I even had a car or motorcycle. My good fishing buddy and I WALKED the 16 foot boat and 18 HP outboard to the boat ramp on the trailer! 14 years later I did my first official fishing charter in 1994 after obtaining my US Coast Guard 100 ton Masters Vessel Operators License and obtaining my Salmon Charter license among other requirements such as 1st aid, CPR, insurance etc. Near 40 years after my first boat I am still doing more fishing than ever.
- Techniques
- Trolling for Salmon is the primary method used on these charters. Sometimes we will switch up and jig some bottom fish for kids or bored anglers of the Salmon fishing is slow.
