Background
I became an angler on the Texas Gulf Coast as a kid, long before I had the height to wade. My early days were spent chasing speckled trout and redfish, learning how tides, bait, and weather shaped every trip. What started as a pastime quickly turned into a lifelong obsession—I was hooked on the challenge of reading the water, outsmarting fish, and pushing myself to grow with every cast. Over the years, I built my expertise across the Middle Texas Coast, from Port O’Connor to the Laguna Madre, targeting trophy trout, redfish, tarpon, and more. I discovered I had just as much passion for teaching others as I did for fishing itself. Sharing techniques, breaking down lure strategies, and watching someone light up when they feel that first thump drives me more than any personal catch ever could. Guiding became the natural path for me because it blends everything I love: time on the water, the pursuit of challenging fish, and creating lasting memories for others. Whether it’s a beginner’s first redfish or a seasoned angler chasing their personal best trout, I aim to make every trip safe, stress-free, and unforgettable. My greatest reward is seeing guests leave with stories worth retelling—and the confidence to keep chasing their own adventures on the water.
Techniques
My preferred approach is wade or drift fishing with artificial lures, targeting trophy speckled trout and redfish in shallow water. There’s nothing like stepping into the bay, feeling the bottom underfoot, and becoming part of the environment you’re fishing. It’s a technical, hands-on style that forces you to slow down, read the water, and trust your presentation. Artificial lures are my specialty because they demand skill and precision but also reward creativity. Whether it’s working a soft plastic through grass lines, walking a topwater bait across a glassy flat, or dialing in subtle retrieves with a twitch bait, every strike is earned. These methods allow anglers to feel directly connected to the fish and develop confidence that carries over to every trip. While I love exploring new tactics, my focus is always on building anglers’ skills so they leave more capable than when they arrived. I believe lure fishing creates a stronger connection between the angler and the resource—it’s active, challenging, and endlessly rewarding. At the end of the day, what drives me is helping others experience that thrill: the sudden strike on a topwater, the thump of a soft plastic, and the unforgettable rush of knowing you fooled that fish.
