I paid $1080 for a 6 hr trip. To start off I get a text saying that fishingbooker had double booked the morning trip two days before I’m to arrive. Then Saturday morning on the way to the pick up spot I am told tat they had to put in somewhere else due to no place to park. Ten min to 7 we left the doc. No time to catch live bait so we used cut bait. They did catch 4 live baits once we stopped. We ended up keeping 5 red snapper. We did catch more but released them in hopes of landing a big one. What disappointed us was when we got back, 12:00 ,there was no mention of a discount. He was just ready for his next charter. They were just not prepared.

Thought I was hooking up with Captain Randall.  Also thought I was hooking up with a 32’ twin outboard boat.  Thought I was fishing out of Orange Beach.  Needles to say none of this happened.  After going back and looking at my confirmation I do see that they had me on a 22’ boat but had to drive 45 minutes to meet up with the boat which I was not expecting.

NO FISH CAUGHT NO DISCOUNT

We arrived with our 18 yr.old grandson on Tuesday, April 4, expecting to have a fun day of making fishing memories.((we have gone on guideed Gulf fishing trips a couple of times a year, since he was 3 years old, so it’s not our first rodeo).  Instead, we were greeted by Capt. Randall, who told us we would be fishing in the Gulf., as he sent us down the dock with his son-in- law…walking past all the nice big boats, we were wondering which one would be ours. Parked on the outside of the marina dock at the end of the marina was a tiny fiberglass boat that looked as if it was made of styrofoam! The water was extremely rough.  We drove out to a rig in the bay to fish for 45 min. around the rig with no sign of a fish. The water was so rough, we couldn’t even stand up in the little boat to cast.  At this point, the water was so rough, we said we would rather not go out into the Gulf, since he was already having a hard time keeping the little boat stable..He moved us back toward shore, only to fish near some pylons for the rest of our 4 hr.trip. The highlight of our trip was one tiny catfish about 8” long. That’s it. We caught nothing. The only bait onboard was a bucket of shrimp. We returned to the marina when our time was up,..only to see Capt. Randall also arriving from a trip with 4 or 5 guys in his big “32 ft. boat, powered by two Yamaha 300 hp.engines”. We feel as tho we were scammed, and he arranged for someone law to take us out in a tiny boat that would have no business out in the Gulf on such a rough day for a quick $600!  Our guide even told us it was too rough to us to go out in the Gulf!!  If we were in any of the other fishing boats actually docked in the marina, we would have been fine to go out into the Gulf. The whole trip was a disappointment, (and a huge waste of $600 plus the tip). If he already had booked a trip on his regular boat, or had a better offer to take out more people) he shouldn’t have pawned us off onto someone else with a little boat that wasn’t equipped to handle rough waters.  The website promises that you will be fishing in a 32 ft. boat with twin 300 hp engines. We .have been bass fishing on bigger boats! A day that was meant to make great fishing memories with our 18 yr.old grandson was a disappointment…as well as a waste of money, only catching a 8” baby catfish. The targeted fish on their website includes Cobia, Gag Grouper, Scamp Grouper, Pompano,, Redfish, Sheepshead, Mangrove Snapper, Red Snspper, Vermillion Snapper, Spotted Seatroutrout, and Yellowfin Tuna. By any means, we don’t expect to catch all or any of of these,, but at least something other than a baby 8” Catfish. The whole event is unacceptable, and very deceiving..We would NOT recommend.
UPDATE: WE RECEIVED A REPLY FROM CAPTAIN RANDALL. He says that we ended our fishing trip having caught 7 Sheepshead. Either he has no communication with his son-in-law who took us out, OR HE IS OUT AND OUT LYING ABOUT US HAVING CAUGHT 7 SHEEPSHEAD! I would have no reason to say that we only caught a tiny catfish, if we actually caught 7 Sheepshead. We would very content with that on our outing if it had actually happened.
