- Background
- Captain Jerry is the owner and sole operator of Starkey Outdoors. He lives on Lake Oologah and considers it his home lake. Knows it like no other. It's said that Lake Oologah has more paddlefish/spoonbill than any other lake in the world. So naturally he specializes in paddlefish. However big blue cats are his passion as well as hybrid white bass and saugeye. He also guides in Alaska and has plenty of stories to share about his adventures up there. All his trips are guaranteed to catch fish.
- Techniques
- Captain Jerry will use his electronics to their fullest capabilities. Most of the fishing is done in lakes. The majority of the catfish are blue cats caught off anchor fishing with shad. The limit is 15 per person and blues as big as 80lbs are possible. Summertime hybrid white bass can be up to 12lbs. Downlines with live bait is his preferred method for those. Paddlefish are all snagged as they only feed on micro plankton. Most weight 40 to 70 but we catch some near 100lbs on occasions. Trolling or Livescope for those. Walleye and Saugeye are caught bottom bouncing worms or trolling crank baits. Oklahoma has liberal limits and plenty of lakes and rivers to fish.
