First trip of the season started out with a bang! I put together a crew of Get Tight regulars to do an exploratory trip in the upper portion of Buzzards Bay. With a crisp chill in the air, we launched at first light and were immediately greeted with diving bird life. This trip was primarily light tackle, and we were throwing a combination of soft plastics from Hogy Lures. Their new pro tail series proved to be deadly, absolutely bailing one fish after the next! Most of the fish were healthy 25-32 inch and laden with fresh sea lice. After an hour or so the action slowed and I made the call to run south to look for bird action with our radar. After a short run, we found acres of birds on bass in open water. These fish seemed to be a little pickier, so we downsized to small epoxy jigs and larger profile soft plastics (10inch Hogys in bone). The epoxy jigs seemed to catch a smaller class of fish 15-25 inches, but the larger soft plastics picked away at keeper-sized bass up to 25lbs. We also landed a 15lb bluefish on a Pro Tail. I was extremely impressed with the durability of these baits, they stood up to dozens of fish and never fell apart! After about six hours of nonstop fishing, we called it quits and had a nice shore lunch on Cape. What a great way to start our 2017 season. Tight Lines! Captain Brian

Great charter this am. We had Mark Anthony and his cousin Keith from Winthrop on the boat. With the light tackle inshore bite having been slow, the plan was to live line macks in deep water. We launched at false dawn and ran to an inshore location to get bait. The area was loaded, with little pressure bait was thick. Most of the baits were small tinker macks but we managed several larger ones. The larger baits usually troll better! It was Keiths first time making bait and he... learned quickly how to load up! Using some intel I got on the water, we ran north about 7miles. The bite had been good in 30-40 feet of water on a beach front the day prior. Upon arrival we started to live line and noticed quite a bit of bait on the sounder. As soon as we hit the forty foot line Keith's rods was almost pulled from his hands. This was a big fish bite! He had been thumbing the spool way to hard and the fish ripped the larger mack off the hook. Ten seconds later Marks rod doubled over. Fish on! After quick fight a frisky 27 inch fish came boat side. The fish came in hooked deep but after a little CPR it swam free. Things started to slow down after that, with the tide slacking out we ran to a light tackle spot I know and pick up another schoolie and had several other follows. With the wind starting to gust above 25mph I made the call to move into shore. We picked up a nice 27 inch fish for Keith on our way back in. He was very happy and fought the fish like a pro through a mooring field. Over all it was a slow day and made plans to have the two out again when the light tackle bite picked up. With the weather worsening I made the call to cancel the afternoon charter and reschedule it. Safety is always my #1 concern! Looking forward to my next trip with these guys!

So, I finally had a chance and write a report. We have been fishing race point this week with mixed success. Running the 29 Pursuit down from Boston to the race we were ready for both tuna and bass. This trip is always a long day, meeting at the dock at 4am for a 4:30am launch. The run down was smooth, we ran the boat at 4200rpm that gave us a speed of about 40mph. Making the run down we found a huge amount of life about 5 miles southeast of Minot Light. Something was pushing... a acre of juvenile sea herring to the surface, with birds crashing I was sure this was a start to an epic day. We started throwing epoxy jigs and all four of use hooked up instantly. The fish started making a run but had minimal weight to it. We then realized that they were not bass. 4 anglers had 4 horse macks over 24 inches! They were huge, like bonito size at least 3-4 pounds and fat! Every drop produced a mammoth mack. With no bass on the electronics and a mack out on a bait runner for 15 minutes with no bites. We filled the live well and headed across the bay. We arrived at 630 am at race. With very limited bird activity we settled into the rip line. First drop I hooked into a good fish. After a short fight I landed a nice 36inch bass. The jig was hooked into its gills so I cut the line and backed the jig out threw its gill plate. I immediately venting the fish and he swam free. Sorry no pic on this one! After an hour of steady hook ups things slowed a bit. Most fish were small just keeper size. I decided to make a run south towards the golf ball. The further south we ran we saw less life. We stopped about 1 mile north of the golf ball and made the call to go back to the rip. BAD decision because just south of us the bite went off! I found this out later that night! We started drifting the pot line and picking away at fish steadily for a couple hours. I was very disappointed in the quality of the fish! I was really hoping to be crushing slobs! At 2pm we decided to grab a shore lunch in ptown. It was a nice hour break and I was hoping for better fishing in the afternoon. After lunch we started jigging the rip again. We noticed a large weather system moving across the bay. The winds changed and started gusting 35-40mph we started to run back inside to ptown. The squall was bad, high winds, rain and lightning. We docked and took a 2hour nap waiting for the weather to clear. After the storm the water was to churned up to fish so we headed home. A long bump ride, 2 hours. Getting back at the dock at 730pm I was cooked! Long day plenty of fish but no big girls. Looking forward do doing it again on Sunday charter. O and i will be running further south this time! The bigger fish have been moving south along the backside towards there summer haunts off Chatham. We seem to be a little ahead of schedule this season!

Beautiful morning on the water for Father's day. Even took my Dad out on todays charter! Fishing was a little slow, but we had a bad tide. Fish were all 28-30inch and fat. Fish have not been responding to artificial baits. So we switched over to live. Tons of small macks around only a couple good size baits were caught. Most fish came from beach fronts in 15 feet of water. We were working with an incoming tide. Looking forward to next weeks stronger tides.

Great morning today! We had out Francis, Gus, MaryJane and Randy for a light tackle bluefish trip. Before the recent winds the south side had been producing nicely on the flats from Wapuoit to Cotuit. Pulling GetTight my 23 footer out of its slip in Winthrop we trailered down to Falmouth harbor. I met the crew at 0700 and started our trip running east. We started hitting outflows along the way to Cotuit. Each outflow produced bluefish but just larger single fish not packs, 7-10lb fish. Mostly keying in on Hogy epoxy jigs in Green and Pink. Upon arrival at Cotuit we started working the surf line just outside of casting range of some surf fisherman. After several drifts with no luck I decided to move to the outside of the flats. We started working the color changes between sand bottom and eelgrass in 5-6 feet. We get honed in right away, fish started to respond to poppers. They looked to be drawn in be the noise often from a distance. Most were 4-6lb fish in packs of 3-6 fish. We continued for about two hours with constant action. Rebel Jumping minnows were the lure of choice. Around 1100 we called it quits and decided to grab lunch at the lobster trap. Several fish were kept for bluefish ceviche. Another great day on the water. Although the fish seemed to be very scattered we ground out a good morning. Captain Brian Coombs

**hidden content** report. Departed Boston about 3:30am. The plan was to fish the upper portion of buzzards bay for school stripers. Trailering our 23 foot center GetTight, we launched the boat at about 5:15am. We had a west flowing tide from launch until about 8am. We started to see life as soon as we pushed off the ramp. Large schools of sea herring were being blown out of the water. The fish looked to be decent size class 15-20lb fish. The were very difficult to hook. After about 15 minutes we managed to hook a good fish on an SP minnow. The fish was about 32inchs and lost boat side. The longer we fished the more action continued. There were acers of bass on herring, and like a switch they started to feed on everything in sight! We managed well over 30 fish in 2 hours. Most being in the 22-27inch size bracket. The larger fish were replaced by hoards of aggressive schoolies. They seemed to respond very well to un weighted soft plastics and Fly. They were eating on the pause. The water clarity is very clear right now so all the bights were very visual! As the tide changes from west to east the fishing turned off quickly. We decided to head back about 9am.
