My girlfriend and I did the 3/4 day trip. The water was a little rough the whole time we were in Key West and I was happy Captain Joe was able to take us out and get our trip in. We spent a few hours trolling on the reef and were able to catch a good handful of fish for a nice tasty dinner. We most certainly would have caught more fish than we did, but I had made the decision I wanted to go further out and off the reef to try to catch something a little bigger. If you’re looking to fish in Key West, I would definitely recommend the jolly Roger; professional crew and a nice boat.

Booked a 6 hour fishing charter in Key West, Florida on the Jolley Roger II. The boat was spacious and stable, providing a comfortable ride. Captain Joe provided cooler and ice to store our beverages and food.
Our captain and first mate Brian were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, making sure everyone on board felt welcome. They provided all the necessary gear and gave us a quick tutorial on the best techniques for the types of fish we were targeting that day.
The crew’s expertise quickly became evident as the captain found schools of Mahi. At one point in the trip, all the rods hooked into a Mahi.
Throughout the trip, the crew was attentive and helpful, offering tips and assistance whenever needed.
The trip concluded with a scenic ride back to the dock, where the crew cleaned and filleted our catch, allowing us to take home fresh fish for dinner. It was the perfect ending to a fantastic day on the water.
Overall, this fishing trip exceeded my expectations. The combination of a well-equipped boat, a skilled and friendly crew, and the thrill of catching a variety of fish made for an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this charter to anyone looking for a fun and rewarding fishing adventure in Key West.

My wife and I booked a private charter with Captain Joe and First Mate Brian.

Both of them were informative and straightforward about catching fish. We didn’t know what to expect and went into the charter with an open mind. Within a minute of getting a line out, a fish was on. It was a Barracuda, which we caught and released, but it was the start of a great day.

We rode out about 20 miles, found some water 1800’ deep, and set our eyes out for Frigate birds and trash in the ocean. After about an hour of trolling, Captain found a broken off trap float and within minutes we hooked 3 dolphins! We spun around that spot for a bit and once they stopped hitting we motored on to find some more. (One boat even saw us circling and motored over just as we were leaving).

After another 40 mins of trolling we found some more trash and all 4 lines hooked up! We were able to bring 3 on board, losing one that managed to jump and spit the hook. Those were a great fight, even getting the Captain off the Tun bridge to help with reeling and gaffing!

The best part of all was as we were heading in we managed to hook a Skipjack, which is all my wife wanted to get. No idea how we got so lucky as we were reeling the lines in, but it was AWESOME

All in all we ended up with 14 mahi, a skipjack and a days worth of memories. First mate Brian did us a solid by cleaning and filleting them, and we made sure to take care of him because of how much work it was. Work that out with him and he’ll get it done right!

Captain Joe and first mate Brian of the Jolly Roger ll were outstanding during the 6 hour fishing trip my wife and went on with them in Key West.  They put us on a school of Mahi Mahi and the bites and catching fish did not stop until we had landed 10 nice size Mahi Mahi. We left the boat happy with 25 Lbs of filet Mahi . Brian the mate filet the Mahi beautifully and bagged up our catch and put fish into freeze bags. Brian was amazing being able to manage landing 4 fish on 4 rods at one time since the fish were biting so aggressively. Captain Joe and Brian were able to direct us to a restaurant that cooked us a meal of fried, grilled and blackened Mahi. These guys work hard to provide a great fishing experience to their customers and actually made my wife and I feel like we were their family on the boat. I will definitely be recommending Captain Joe and the Jolly Roger to everyone!!! Can’t wait to come back for another fishing trip.

Easy booking process. We booked a 3/4 day trip. Capt. Joe was communicative prior to our departure and called to discuss our preferences and possible weather issues the night before. Both Joe and Ryan, the 1st Mate, were waiting for us prior to our departure meeting time/place. They loaded all of our personal effects and helped us aboard after our safety briefing. There is a bathroom, shade, and food cooler available on board. The boat was in good repair and comfortable for our group of 5 adults. We caught Mahi and multiple Barracuda, which was more than the other boats at the marina on this day, taking home about 20lb. of fresh filleted Mahi. It was a great first family fishing trip with our adult children. Joe and Ryan were 100% professional and very knowledgeable, answering all of our inquisitive questions. We will definitely be back to spend more time on the Jolly Roger II. Don’t hesitate to book this boat/Capt. It’s worth every dime. You get what you pay for!
