We met Captain Mike at the boat launch a little bit before our trip. He was prepared for our half day trip with drinks, snacks, and sandwiches. Captain Mike and his deck hand did everything for us, all we had to do was reel in the fish. Even though it was a slow day of fishing, but was nice to relax on the boat. The weather was phenomenal and the water was smooth. If you book a charter with him, make sure to do the morning charter, as it’s usually better fishing. We did the afternoon charter and only caught 2 fish, which was enough for us to eat that night for dinner. It was a fun trip, but we’d book the morning trip instead of the afternoon trip.

Our exciting fishing trip turned out into a very pricey boot ride. The season was not ideal for catching fish but instead of telling us at the booking the captain didn’t say anything and we ended up pretending fishing for 5 hours as we discovered 5 min after we started that there was no chance to get anything on that day. Indeed, knowing that early, we wouldn’t have booked and the captain would have lost a business but the respect and values would have been preserved! Also, the crew knowledge of English was limited making difficult for the beginners in our group to learn and improve! My friend got a left handed rod while he was right handed. The crew didn’t bother much to be honest.
The final price for the experience was not worth it at all ! We felt scammed ! A good deed would have been to give us a discount regarding the poor experience we got.

The dock was easy to find via captain Marc’s direction. Weather was the greatest today, but we made the best of it. Caught about 9 rainbow bass, kept 2. Captain Marc was very knowledgeable with 30+ years of fishing at lake Arenal easy going made it really fun for my son and I.
Definitely coming back again with captain Marc and highly recommended.

We had a great day with Captain Marc and Ervin today.  Had some good sandwiches, and caught a couple rainbow bass for dinner.  We’ll definitely be going out with Captain Marc again.
