Don worked hard to catch bait but had no luck. He spent over an hour with bait and to his credit added that time back and extended the trip to 5 hours. He has a nice boat with all the tools to catch fish. Having only 1 to 2 rods being used with 4 people doesn’t produce much fish and the bits were slow. Don’s style of fishing is to do all the work baiting, setting the catch and then handing the rod over to a customer. This is fine for a person that never has fished, but even if you’re experience... Derek. First, you had three kids on the boat that needed the assistance. It would’ve been much easier for me to sit back and just hand them rods and let them fish. But like you said I am a hard-working guide. As far as your experience goes, Trust me, it is minimal. The reason I cast for you Was because you kept throwing the bait 20 feet behind a boat and it needed to be much further out than that. Most guides would have given up on catching bait today and just finished with frozen bait. I put in the extra effort in order to have the bait for you to have a successful trip today. And then I added an extra hour on the trip for free. No other guides would do that. And what is funny is that it was you that was trying to micromanage me. You were getting on my last nerve but I still treated you very nicely. There are reasons for every little thing I do out there. When the bite is slow I am using two rods to cover more ground and find fish that want to play. This was all explained it to you but I guess it went over your head. Even your kids were trying to get you to back off. Bottom line. Tipping a Guide $55 for all the hard work I did and keeping you out there an extra hour is nothing, bro. By all means. Please go with another outfit when you come back down here.
