Really early start in great conditions allowed us 2 hours of good fishing before the wind got up. Boat handled well but bites were scarce. Steven was attentive and once he was happy I knew what I was doing he left me to myself.

It would be a nice experience for people who are quite good at kayaking. Basically you are going into the open sea (I thin they supposed to write it on the advertisement) with kayak so to tray to balance in kayak and to try to fish was a bit of a challenge for me. And listen to the captain when he says to leave your belongings on the shore:)

My Girlfriend and I have a amazing day, did not want it to end. Would highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys fishing, especially something a bit different.  A must if you are visiting Mauritius

Nice trip with helpful captain but no fish. Cannot valuate quality of guiding, because i am not experienced in deep see fishing. Other boats catched fish but very little. My opinion: even in indian ocean you need a portion of luck or more time and money to try again

I had some good fun out fishing with Ludovic for a half day in Baclava. He caught 5 fish I think in toal and I caught 2 small rock snapper. The conditions were not good for Kayak fishing, which the captain warned me about the day before, it was very windy and we could not go out to deeper water. Still there were bites but the shallow water means you can easily lose your lures and hooks on the coral and rocks which can be frustrating. Would definitely go again, one tip is do not forget to put your valuables away, you may easily capsize and break your phone like I did!!

We fished with Popeye for a half day of fishing.  The Captain spent too long on fishing in a very windy and rough sea.  He should have changed to trolling in calmer seas.  The boat was OK but the equipment was not good and out of date.  The crew was lazy and did very little.

No fish, no bites, no service.  Not recommended.

Steve Karel does not recommend Mautiyak Game Fishing

I understand that some people are happy, and others not, specially when back empty handed..  This is not a reason for not recommending us.
I just tried my best to bring you as close as possible to your targeted fish. And i can’t help it if they didn’t want to bite.
I know that not all my reels are brand new, but they are very well maintain, and i never use my lines more than six months after being changed.
Of course trolling to the wanted spot is the laziest way of catching fish, but as far as i can remember we got one bite 20mins before getting back to port.  But even before starting fight, fish was gone already..  Not my fault..
If a client is not happy about the service, why giving tips and rating with 2 stars the crew and fishing?

From my side, i found we had a good discussion and relationship onboard.

Looking forward to see you maybe another time with more luck.

Regards,

Ludovic Angeline

Although we had a tough day on the water with only two fish caught, I would happily go out again with Capt. Ludovic and his crew member Ken. They covered a lot of water and were constantly changing lures in an effort to entice fish. We also tried jigging in certain areas but with little success. But that’s fishing, no guarantees, but still a good day.
What has been extra top class is the service and follow up by fishingbooker.com. great communication and follow up. I will definitely use these guys again!!

We wanted to target smaller game fish , but on arrival only big rod and reels had been set up. Trip was basiclly joining the dots to fad markings hoping to target darado and tuna , to no avail somebody must have been there before us. One smalll tuna yellofin and that was all. Hey , don’t get me wrong anyday fishing is better than anyday not fishing.

Fishing from Monday 13 to 24 of January with Iain Green, Lucy Linney and Steeve

Monday, 13 Jan 2014

Our 1st day fishing, we headed south and put our monster lures specifically for Marlins as we were in the peak season for these species. We ended finally the day with what we wanted, a Blue Marlin of 350 pounds, caught by both anglers Iain and Steeve.

Tuesday, 14 Jan 2014

Second day fishing, we tried to please Lucy, as she wanted to catch some Tunas. But no tuna L. We ended the day with 4 skipjacks. Biggest was 17.6 pounds.

Friday, 17 Jan 2014

Third day, we have been to the north side of the island, where we caught one wahoo of 21lbs and one bonito mackerel on trolling. We tried also a bit of bottom fishing, where we got a ruby snapper and an emperor red snapper.

Saturday, 18 Jan 2014

Fourth day fishing, blanked day.

Monday, 20 Jan 2014

Fifth day fishing, early morning around 8:30, one blue marlin on line for 45mins on a 80lbs line test, leader in hand, and…. Snapped……… minute of silence…. Couldn’t help it, the bill cut the line.

Estimated weight: 130lbs.

15:00, another blue marlin strike! 45mins fight, leader in hand, seven incredible majestic jumps, rushed everybody onboard, some loud shouts, ripped the gaff out of hands of mate, ripped leader out of hands of captain, finally hooked got out… gone….. estimated weight: 175lbs. Back home empty handed again..

Tuesday, 21 Jan 2014

Sixth day fishing, Four missed bites in the morning, didn’t see what it was, could be marlin or tuna.. On the way back, while bringing back the lines, got a 63lbs wahoo.

Thursday 23 Jan 2014

Seventh day fishing, Been to Northside, near flat island, got Steeve’s wanted fish, a Barracuda of 12.5 lbs.

Friday, 24 Jan

Down to south side again for the big bites, and the big bite came, but finally hooked off after 2mins fight. Back home empty handed.

Final comments:

Outstanding fishing
Brilliant crew
Worth every minute.
