Louis and mate are great.  We went out on a very windy day so waters were not so smooth but we hauled in 3 sailfish in the first two hours and went to spend the rest of our time bottom fishing.  But that was difficult given the conditions and no fish and lots of rocking and rolling. But the captain does not control the weather or the sea.  But given the weather hauling in three sailfish I would call a good day!

Luis was great at communicating before our trip and was very knowledgeable about the area and where the fish are.  My son caught 2 huge sailfish that we got up to the boat for a picture then released.  We also caught a giant mahi that Luis cleaned and bagged for us right on the boat.  It made for a few really great meals for our family at the resort.  If we ever get the opportunity to come back to Costa Rica, Luis will be the first person I contact.  Great Captain!

I can’t say enough great things about Luis and Shirley. From the moment we boared the boat, until we got back to shore, their main goal was to make sure we were happy. We missed on a bite while trolling, but we ended up landing a real nice wahoo. We couldn’t ask for more on a day with high winds and rough seas. They truly went above and beyond to try catch as much as possible. Thank you again to the captain and crew. I highly recommend El Gato to anyone looking for a great experience.

Luis put us on some fish while other boats in the area seemed to be pretty dormant.  Landed a good size Mahi Mahi early and a second, bigger one, 15 feet from the boat when it shook off.  A very smart Marlin ate our bait on two lines right up to the hook.  Big lull after that, but moved inshore to go for some smaller species, and then hammered a gigantic Mahi Mahi.  Luis knows these waters very well and rigs the boat in what feels like a matter of seconds.  It was amazing to watch.

It was a beautiful day on the water with Captain Luis and Paul. Slow start in the morning but we got into a few schools of Mahi Mahi and Yellowfin and got more than our fill. We kept 3 of our Yellowfin and 2 of our Mahi Mahi and released several more that we had reeled in. We were surrounded by a massive school of Dolphins for a while too which put on a great show for us as well. We hit on a massive sailfish as well but I couldn’t keep it on.
