Background
I have been fishing Lake Whitney, Lake Waco, and Lake Aquilla for 40 years. My father taught me how to drive a boat when I was so young I had to stand on a box to see over the console. These were our go to lakes, so I know them like the back of my hand. I have been guiding for about 11 years and I look forward to every trip. Providing a service that helps people smile, de-stress and have fun is very fulfilling.
Techniques
Most of the year I prefer to fish with live bait for Stripers. When the Stripers and White bass are schooling on top, we catch them on spoons and slabs. When they go deep we will troll with down riggers while we wait for them to surface again. I adjust our fishing to the conditions, so we may fish with live bait, cast spoons, and troll all in the same trip. It just depends on what the fish are doing. When we are fishing for catfish we will drift fish with cut shad for Blues and tight line fish with prepared bait for channel cats. When we are pursuing channel catfish I will bait up 3 or 4 locations with cattle cubes at the beginning of the trip, and then we will fish each of those spots until we find the one they like best. When customers have a fish fry planned and want to put numbers of catfish in the cooler, then baiting a hole will get it done.
