- Background
- I have been fishing for Stripers for 40 years on Lake Texoma and Lake Whitney. My father taught me to drive a boat when I had to stand on a box to see over the console. We lived halfway between Lake Texoma and Lake Whitney, so we fished each lake every other weekend. I know both lakes like the back of my hand. After I got my marketing degree at Texas Wesleyan University I was in management with a Fortune 500 Insurance company for 20 years. After spending 3 hours in work traffic for 20 years I was ready for a change. I knew everything there was to know about Lake Texoma and Lake Whitney, so I decided to open a guide business. I have been guiding fishing trips for 15 years, and I look forward to every trip. Providing a service that helps people smile, de-stress, and have fun is very fulfilling.
- Techniques
- Most of the year I prefer to fish with live bait for Stripers. When the Stripers and White bass are schooling on top, we catch them on spoons and slabs. When they go deep we drop live shad or troll with down riggers while we wait for them to surface again. I adjust our fishing to the conditions, so we may fish with live bait, cast spoons, and troll all in the same trip. It just depends on what the fish are doing at the time..
