Captain Doug Mathis has been commercial fishing since 1987 and worked on boats most of his life. Captain Doug has been in a charter boat business 14 years and a captain 4! but he was a captain prior with his family's commercial fishing business running boats and keeping the family business going alongside his uncle and his dad! come and experience an offshore trip with Captain Doug and mate Caleb 'Cool Whip' Rivers as both were captain and mate previously aboard the Gale Anne we have now had the opportunity to help Tommy Keefer and his son Daniel run their charter boat business! Gulf Stream Fishing Charters!!!! we will do our very very best to make sure that you and your family have an enjoyable safe time upon the waters off the coast of Morehead City North Carolina! great trip!!
3/4 day fishing on August 29, 2026 • 6 adults
We had a great time despite the fact that it rained most of our trip. Captain Doug was able to put us on some fish even though the waters were a bit too warm, and we still got a good amount of fish. We even stopped on the way back and stopped to fish a massive school of fish even though our day was done. Captain Doug and Caleb aka Cool Whip were very nice, respectful, FUNNY, and informative. We will be booking with them again in the future.

Top-notch crew and a fantastic experience!
Half day 4 hours on June 21, 2026 • 6 adults
We booked a half-day charter and it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we left the dock, Captain Doug had us right on the fish. We barely had our lines in the water before we started hooking into spanish mackerel. The mate was professional, incredibly helpful, and kept our hooks baited and lines clear the entire time. For a 4-hour trip, we got an unbelievable amount of action. Can’t recommend them enough, we will definitely be back!

Great Charter! 5 stars!
Full Day Trip on July 31, 2026 • 3 adults
Wonderful experience! Had another charter scheduled that cancelled, and was able to book with Gulfstream on very short notice. Communication was second to none, Captain Doug and 1st mate CoolWhip did absolutely everything in their power to get us on the fish. The fishing was spectacular, but the catching left a little to be desired, but that’s fishing. Will certainly book with them again in the future.

Great fishing trip and crew!
Half day 4 hours on June 7, 2026 • 5 adults
There were 5 of us and We caught 14 fish. Great weather, crew was very knowledgeable, pretty good fishing jokes and great conversation the whole trip. Doug and Caleb are 100% worth the money and by far the 100% BEST Charter we've ever fished with! We will always book with them from now on.

Great beginner trip

Our family of 6 have never been fishing and this was a great trip for us. We caught 18 Spanish Mackerels. Capt Doug and Caleb were friendly and helpful. The air conditioning was a plus. If we decide to do this again we will definitely go with them again.
