If you need a private charter in Puerto Jimenez, stop searching and book Jose! Jose was responsive since booking and helped us prepare appropriately coming from the US and not knowing what to expect. He was perfectly on time, is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We were looking for rooster fish, and he put us on two giant rooster fish within an hour of getting out to the deeper water. My husband got sea sick and he was able to bring us in to shallower water and still fish for the remainder of the time! Also as a plus the sandwiches/fruit/snacks and sodas/water he brought were tasty. He also has a Bluetooth speaker for you to play music through if you choose. Couldn’t have asked for more in a fishing charter!

Jose and his son Andy have great energy and were an absolute pleasure to be on the water with. You can tell he loves to fish and wants you to catch. His boat is very clean and well kept and has everything needed. Since I had the wife and kids with me, we only went for half day with our main goal to catch fish for some meals which we were successful at. We tried a bit for rooster since I had never gone for one and had a hit but didn’t get it. The kids were thrilled to see the dolphins and turtles which Jose recognized right away and circled around so they swam along beside the boat. We didn’t catch big numbers but did catch barracuda, pompano, jack, mahi-mahi, and a small Spanish mackerel that we cut up for bait. It’s crazy how many bites you get and bait you go through figuring out the right technique to hook up😁 I brought a heavy ice fishing rod out for the kids to use to help catch bait at the start of the day and they loved it. I made sushi with the mahi-mahi which was delicious! I will for sure be booking Jose for more days on the water the next time I’m down in Puerto Jimenez!

Very enjoyable and successful day with Jose on Pez Koi.  After catching our bait, which was fun in itself, we headed out and caught mackerel, snapper and blue jack.  Coming back into the Golfito Bay, we caught a couple trophy fish including a rather large needlefish and a rooster fish.  Jose was very knowledgeable and easy to work with.  He cleaned our snapper which made an excellent dinner.  Highly recommended.

Best fishing trip ever!  Captain Jose was outstanding!  He put us on the fish we wanted to catch and was very helpful throughout the trip.  If you want to fish in the area Captain Jose is the one to use.

Extreme wealth of knowledge obviously goes without saying. What stood out the most was the hospitality and simple kindness. Captain Miranda and his 1st mate could not do enough to make this a special day including the food and beverages they brought. Captain Miranda spoke very, very little English and I speak no Spanish. But we made it work and had an absolute blast. He put us on my bucket list fish (Rooster). He even sat time aside to allow me to use some of my own equipment. Great guy, great team. He’ll be the first I call when I set my return trip date.
