- Background
- I have been fishing Lake Michigan and its harbors and tributaries since the age of 10. I have over four decades of experience under my belt and have fished for Salmon and Trout both from shore and off various boats. My father took me fishing for Salmon and Trout at the age of 10 off of a local breakwater and was immediately "hooked" for life (pardon the pun). I have made it a point to stay in tune with the latest tactics and techniques related to Salmon and Trout fishing. I started Reel Obsession Sport Fishing LLC for the sole purpose of sharing the wonderful resource we have in Wisconsin known as Lake Michigan and what it has to offer regarding fishing. I get satisfaction seeing people reeling in monster Salmon and Trout, knowing that there are only a handful of places on Earth that have this type of resource. The experience and excitement of landing large freshwater fish is something that is soon not forgotten. Fishing to me is not a pastime, it's a lifestyle!
- Techniques
- On board Reel Obsession Sport Fishing LLC, we use the latest trolling tactics and techniques for catching Salmon and Trout. Downriggers are used to present lures deep. Lead core and copper rods are set/deployed as "stealth" tactic to catch the attention of any Salmon or Trout that had been spooked by the boat. Braid and wire diver rods are used to get lures away from the boat but achieve greater depths than what lead core or copper rods could achieve. We heavily utilize and rely upon our electronics to inform us as to where the thermocline has set up, what direction and speed the current is at any particular time, etc... All of the fishing gear on board Reel Obsession Sport Fishing is Shimano (Talora trolling rods and Tekota level-wind line counter reels).
