Angel and Ollie worked hard to help me catch a good size striped marlin and get an excellent photograph before releasing.  Highly recommend both of them.

Captain and mate were wonderful. The boat was extremely loud and had Diesel fumes all day. Only caught one fish but that’s fishing. There was confusion on which boat we were to take so we started out late. Then We stopped to get gas????

I have been to Mexico fishing a bunch of times so keep this in mind during this review. I also own a boat back in San Diego and have fished all of these styles of fishing. The day starts by us finely getting on the dock about 30 minutes after when we were told to arrive witch I get It’s Mexico time so no big deal. The guy from Phantom fishing puts us on a boat named Phantom 1, but we reserved Lisa. He explains that that boat was the Lisa and hey have changed the name but I choose that boat because of the reviews for the Lisa so not really sure if we got the right boat or not. We finely get on board and head guy says we owe about $75 more than we did but having been thru this stuff before I have all the paper work printed out so he could not charge us any more than we were quoted. The boat was fine one of outriggers was broken and the other was having to fixed through out the day. The fishing was very frustrating. The deck hand was very inexperienced. He couldn’t even tie knots or get the trolling spread out right. He was trying his best but just very inexperienced. We had the line break three times (bad line) . Had two of our baits casted off and three picked off by a sea lion so half of our bait was wasted. The skipper (Ollie) finally came down and took over for about a hour to clean up the mess on deck. This trip was a bucket list thing for my mom she is 78 and wanted to catch a marlin. She did do that it was about 85 lbs and my brother caught a dorado about 8lbs. The deck hand lost the marlin before we could get any pictures with my mom. I myself had fishing rod in my hand about 5 minutes the whole 8 hour trip. I understand the trolling game so not that big of deal but there were many opportunities that were missed because of inexperience. I feel if your paying almost $750 including tip you should have a good crew and won’t be fishing with Phantom Fishing again.
