Our full day fishing charters over the past couple of weeks have been quite exciting and there have been some very impressive fish boated aboard CATCH 22. There have been really big snapper 80cm plus boated on regular occasions on our full day fishing charters. North east of double island point has been fishing extremely well, the little rocks and bommies in the middle of know where have been producing some outstanding fish red emperor, snapper,peral perch,scarlett perch,hussar,moises perch,amber jack the list goes on. With the weather conditions almost perfect on all our full day charters bar a few leaving early has been the key only a couple of late starts due to shallow water on the bar but even them trips produced well with some nice fish caught aboard catch 22. Double Island Point has had mostly a slight current running north / south the biggest snapper over the 80cm mark were eating large fresh pilchards on the floaters. All other species have been quite easy to catch on a Patagonian rigs taking half pilchards and fresh strips of hussar or mullet in between all the action we have dropped some quite big fish and spooled a couple of reels due to sharks moving in on the action. Barwon Banks has fished good for snapper but a couple of trips were hard going due to different wind, swell and current directions so we chose double island point to avoid these conditions and it paid of big time !! Heaps of whales of the steam out and back got to keep a good look out while travelling at high speed on the fishing charters as these animals just pop us out of know where , there are 40,000 migrating up the east coast this time of the year so take caution. 3/4 day fishing charters aboard catch 22 have been targeting areas around the coffes and North of the coffes south of double island. Our customers have been boating some good size snapper and scarlet perch of the gravel and weedy lumps around the 50 -60 metre mark. These fish have been taking strip baits and half pilchards on paternoster rigs and are great eating around the 3-4 kg mark as seen in the photo above. The conditions have been mostly offshore north west to south west with only 1 metre to 1.5 metre of swell so getting out to the reefs have been a enjoyable and fast ride in these conditions catch 22 cruises between 22 and 24 knots which is a bonus to fish a bit wider ground on a 3/4 day trips. Back to North reef mostly cobia in the bait schools some nice snapper on floaters aswell as moses perch, sweet lip and pearl perch.

Our customers aboard catch 22 have been enjoying some great weather and great fishing over the school holiday period. Our half day deep sea and offshore charters have been catching some great size cobia as pictured in the photo on North reef , Chardons reef and sunshine reef. The local reefs are full of bait fish at the moment so these predators are in amongst the bait schools and have been mostly been taking live yakkas and floaters in the 45 metres depths. North reef has been producing good size snapper, peral perch , sweet lip and maori cod early morning, late afternoon mostly so getting out early or leaving late afternoon on our fishing charters has been our key to success. The larger snapper have been taking floating pilchards with a small bean sinker mostly on 20 pound floater set up. The sweet lip , moses perch and squire have been quite easy to catch on strip baits using a basic paternoster rig set up anywhere from 35 – 55 metre depth we have been fishing . Chardons reef has had alot of small reef sharks around the 80cm mark in the schools of snapper recently and can be quite annoying as they can come through in a school and destroy all your rigs quite easlily in few minutes, but in amonst them there has been some good size squire, snapper , mak tuna, cobia, blue fine tuna and peral perch. Sushine reef has produced nice coral trout some good size venus tusk fish and maori cod mostely, and lots of juvinile red emperor. Half Day Fishing Charter report Catch 22 have been catching some great fish on there fishing charters around North reef , Chardons, and sunshine reef. These reefs have been producing cobia, shiny mackeral , blue fin tuna, and mack tuna. These fish have been congregating around the bait schools for the last week and there have been good catches of these species on our deep sea fishing charters…. The flat gravel and weedy country in the 45 to 55 metre depths have been producing some really good size pearl perch, squire, snapper up to 5kg, sweet lip , moses perach , tusk fish and the odd coral trout on our offshore fishing charters. A few of our wreck fishing marks in the shallow waters have had some good size silver due and cobia, but they can only be fished properly on the really calm days as there most easliy accessed on the drift. Catch 22 our full day fishing charters have have mixed results. The fishing at double island point has produced some nice snapper but mostly husser, moses perch, parrot for us on our deep sea fishing charters this week. The current was running back under the boat and made it quite challenging to get the boat to sit in once place. The barwon banks the current has been roaring and mixed weather conditions and reports made our fishing charters quite challenging once again to anchor the boat as wind and current where working against each other, but majority of fishing charters were productive and produced parrot, gold band snapper and moses perch. There has been heaps of whales and dolphins for our customers to see while offshore fishing out on the wide reefs of Noosa while travelling to the fishing grounds. Our full day fishing charters are best done around this time of the year June through to November, great fun and experience some adventure on our offshore fishing charters.
