This was our first trip to Costa Rica.The captain and mate were very helpful and experienced. Though the water was a bit rough for our trip, they put us on the fish. My wife and I each landed a beautiful Mahi Mahi. The crew helped with filleting the fish and bagging it up for us. Captain Mendez was amazing! It was a slow fishing day, and we only got 3 bites and only caught 1 mahi mahi. However, captain mendez and his crew really did their best to give us the best chance possible, including setting out 7 lines and staying an extra hour at sea to try to get us a 2nd fish. He made us ceviche with the mahi mahi and set up a spot for us to get our mahi mahi cooked when we got to shore. We had a great time today! We were able to catch a Mahi Mahi and had the best time. We went into it knowing its “fishing” and not always catching but were plesantly surprised! On the way out we saw stingrays, dolphins, other fish, and turtles! After we caught the Mahi Mahi Michael sliced up it up snd then made a beautiful platter of food. it was delicious and we had an amazing time. Thanks again for a memorable experience.

Short answer, great trip and would reccomend his guide service to anyone! Captain took us out deep as we requested for Mahi Mahi and sailfish. We trolled through some feeding yellowfin but no luck. Did see some whales and a pair of mating sea turtles though whoch was really cool. Went closer to shore and tore up the Bonita. They made bonita sashimi for us on the boat. Delicious. It is obvious why Captain Mendez and his son are the most sought after guides in Playa Hermosa. We wasted no time getting on the water. The boat was clean, extremely safe and well maintained. Capt. Mendez had lines in the water right away. When he heard on the radio that a humpback whale and baby were breaching in the bay, he asked us if we wanted to see it, and quietly navigated to within feet of the next breach. It was perfect.
