I knew it was going to be a good trip when I saw the “No Bananas” sign on Doug’s boat. Not only is he a great captain and angler, but he’s a great guy in general.

He put us on some big fish offshore, but my wife got sea sick quickly. He didn’t hesitate to pack up, give her water and a cold towel, and bring us back inshore. We still landed plenty of trout, skipjack, and other fish inshore. A group of dolphins joined in on the action a few times near the boat. I think the best parts were the consistent amount of landed fish, learning from Doug, and exchanging stories with him.
