Background
I've loved fishing ever since I was old enough to hold a rod. I started doing it as a career at the Ocean Isle Fishing Center at age 19, working my way up from mate to Captain quickly. I captained for 4 years out of Ocean Isle and worked on boats down in the Keys for a year. I then mated on Whipsaw Charters out of Wrightsville Beach for 2 years in the summer and would work again for the Ocean Isle Fishing Center in the winters, during Bluefin Tuna season. Fishing is my passion, I go to work every day looking forward to being able to do what I love and meet new people. To me, there is no better feeling than a day out on the water!
Techniques
My preferred method of fishing is light tackle whenever I can make it work. There's nothing like hearing the drag scream on a big smoker King Mackerel or a bull Mahi on 20-pound tackle. I also really enjoy Grouper fishing, we have a great fishery for them off the coast of Wrightsville Beach especially in the fall when they move into the nearshore waters. Live baiting is always a good way to fish and is definitely my preferred way, nothing like getting over a wreck and throwing a handful of live bait out and watching the amberjack put on a show for the customers.
