Captain Tyler was fun helpful and very kid friendly my 11 and 13-year-old had a great experience with him on this trip

We secured their famous “Capt. Tyler’s specialty Mahi Hunt” for 7. Price was notated for up to 6 guests, and we were charged additional for the 7th guest. Not a problem, we understood the pricing and under the boat specs, it showed a 33’ Contender for up to 12 Guests. The night before our outing, they called us to make sure we really had 7. “If you really have 7, your going to have to be split onto 2 boats.” I was a little shocked since this trip had been secured for a while for 7 guests… I said ok, because ultimately, what choice do we really have? Then, I was told, “if you want to have someone stay home, we can get the rest of you on one boat”.

We showed up at 6:30 like we were told. Both Captains showed up on time, and were very nice and ready to get us out on the water. This review is a review of the trip overall, not the Captains. They were pleasant and we’re trying their best to get us on some fish. I also understand that it’s called fishing, not catching…but on the way out, being excited about out “Mahi Hunt”, we were told, well it’s the end of the season, so they haven’t really been biting… this was not an ideal start. The Mahi Hunt shows the season ending in February, so I’m not really sure what to believe. Did we get tricked into an outing that isn’t really in season? It also shows that you go 5-15 miles out under the description. We never went beyond 2 miles from shore…so again, not really sure what we were paying for. Were the captains instructed to keep us closer since they had to cover the gas and captain for 2nd vessel?

Again, not totally sure what we paid for in terms of a Mahi Hunt. We had a total of 4 fish between the 2 vessels. 4 King Mackerel. Never saw a glimpse of a Mahi. Very disappointed that we booked this trip. We were on vacation over an hour away, but secured this trip because of the way it was sold in the description, along with the video from the captain. We were looking for an enjoyable family outing where the kids could not only catch, but see some beautiful Mahi in the water…but the family got split up, the trip resembled nothing that was mentioned under the descriptions, and we paid a lot of money for 4 Mackerel and never even got to see a Mahi.
