Super nice and informative however,  the fish were nit biting at all.  We caught 3 stripers 2 has to be kept because they swallowed the hook
  Those 2 were really small.

I booked this trip for my dad, my brother, and his work friends and here is their review below.

First and foremost, Captain Cates was super communicative, he told us what we needed, where and when to meet, and what was to be expected. We did not have any questions going into the trip and he made sure to check up on us before and after the trip. He was also very kind, amicable, and flexible.

Brother’s Note: The fishing experience itself was really enjoyable. Going into this, I had zero fishing experience, but Captain Cates really helped me understand what to do and why I should do it. He is also extremely approachable, and I shared multiple fun conversations with him throughout the trip while we waited for the fish to come.

Overall, it was an extremely fun trip, and it was worth every single penny. If I can, I would like to go back to Lake Texoma and have Captain Cates as my guide again.

Fishing was super tough, but CAPT Kevin worked his backside off to try to get us onto the fish.  We tried anchoring and drift fishing at a number of locations.  Four of us managed to catch 25-30 fish, with a number of them being off-species (small catfish and drum).  We did manage to catch around 15 stripers with 4 or 5 being “Overs”. Largest was really nice at about 9 lbs.  Will definitely be going out with him again in the future.  It was 99 degrees when we came off the water at 1:00, with the water temp being 87 degrees.  NOT typical weather for southern OK/ northern TX for the end of September.  That is one reason the fishing was

Kevin was super knowledgeable about the lake and the best spots. He moved us around as needed to find the fish and we loved learning about Striper and the other fish in the lake. We caught about 7 over 20” striper bass fish but had to throw 3 back because of the daily limit. We caught smaller ones to meet the 10 daily limit later in the day. It was fun just to see the size and the sport of catching these fish that are big fighters. Afterward when he cleaned our fish, he showed us good cooking tips to make sure the fish was the best tasting. He was super friendly and we’ll definitely tour with him again next time we’re up at Lake Texoma.

This was a great trip. Kevin put us on fish and gave us every opportunity. Very helpful and very knowledgeable. Fish were there just not wanting to take the bait. Caught a few and lots of laughs. Will book again for sure.
