Andrew was very informative and had many great stories to tell! His boat was safe, had a washroom, and was spacious enough for our group of 6. The boat does rocks a lot on the waves in the ocean so take motion sickness medicine if you know you get dizzy in the water. I was a bit unsure about fishing a place that is located to close to the city and populated waters. But it worked out prefectly well! Andrew knew all spots, that fish also know 😉 We had lots of bites and a pretty busy 4-hour trip. Took my 15 year old daughter for her first ocean fishing trip. I have been on 10 to 12 of these myself and Captain Turk was a pro it was probably the best trip I have ever taken. In 4 hrs we has 9 hits landed 5 including a 78 cm Salmon which was delicious. The other 4 two were just short if being keepers and one was a protected fish a yellow eye (looked like the fish from the Simpsons without the third eye)which Captain Turk very carefully brought back to life. Had to get to Nanaimo at 12:50 the night before because the last ferry from vancouver was rescheduled, and the earliest one was completely booked. In a group of 5 friends we caught a total of 10 fish with 2 keeper chinook which we barbequed / ate as sashimi afterwards. Captain Turk was great, teaching us the way to read the fish detector, and constantly moving us into areas with high bait fish density. Something that you will want to watch out for is seasickness.
