Well Steve….I would first like to say that we talked to you the day before your trip & informed you that the water temperatures had been cold inshore & fishing had been very slow & gave you the option of choosing a different type of trip or rescheduling. You stated that “that was the only day you could go & you all were willing to give it a shot anyway”. We do understand your disappointment. But….As you stated you booked a 7 hour inshore fishing trip with us… but.. that we fished for 9 hours…which is absolutely correct. We gave you two extra hours of our time & boat expenses trying everything to get fish on the boat because we truly care that our customers have the experience that they hope for….We also completely switched out all gear, rods & lures 3 times “not just two”.. from inshore light tackle trolling to heavier offshore trolling & then as we came back in closer to shore… switched back to light tackle again. The water temps were so cold inshore that nothing was biting for us or any of the charter captains or local private boats that we stay in constant contact with….we went way above & beyond to try & get fish for you ...We basically gave you an all day Near offshore trip for the price of a 3/4 day inshore at a much greater expense to us & actually a loss. Our inshore trips never go beyond at maximum 10 miles out….which is already more than most charters do in the first place for inshore trips….We trolled out to 30 miles offshore for you guys! Trying our best to get fish on the boat. As far as I the “Mate” for the day & a captain myself being up top much of the time…..was because I was trying my best to visually spot Cobia & Red Drum to cast to or for fish breaking the water or any other signs of life to point out to the captain & get us on fish! I can see much more area from up high on the boat. That is why many boats have towers on them in the first place. If fish would have bitten the baits or lures you could be sure I am on top of it in seconds flat. Apparently you are not able to realize when people are doing WAY more than was even paid for & to what extent we were going to try to make you all happy “did I mention the two extra hours & the $100 worth of free t-shirts we gave you all”  If you look through Fishbooker at other boats that are smaller & with much less amenities as our boat charge as much as $200.00 for just an hour “boat ride” without any fishing involved at all. We feel we more than compensated for the lack of fish caught on that particular day…especially when it is truly not something we can control.  We were very professional with you & your family as we have been with everyone else that has fished with us & written reviews for us as you & everyone else can read for themselves. Va. Beach had just hit a spell of cold water temps inshore that had slowed the fishing tremendously for those few days. We just had a bad day of fishing with you guys & we tried to explain that to you all in detail & apologized several times. We did as much as possible to correct it…but…. We can’t catch as many fish as everyone wants every day! In fishing there is just going to be days where the fish are not biting. We went out today “the very next day after your trip” with another family & the inshore fishing was slow again so we did exactly the same with them as we did with you with much better results as you can see from the pix below. Still not the greatest catch….but it shows how it can change drastically from day to day. That is why it is called FISHING & not CATCHING. Also…We want our customers to enjoy themselves & have a good time as well as catch fish…. but… with as much beer & food that you guys spilled in our boat & on the deck plus cigarette ashes that were just plucked all over everywhere without even trying to use a can or tray, the raiding of our private food & liquor cabinet & the excessive overuse of vulgar foul language in front of your very sweet 12 year old daughter was very uncomfortable for us to hear as dads ourselves .....that we are completely fine with you not booking with us again. Wow!  I understand a bad review for a slow day of fishing. But at least tell the complete truth! The details of the trip were discussed well before the trip that the large trophy Striper had not been biting that great as of yet & it was explained to you that their were several other options for catching different fish OR we could still go to certain areas & try to catch the smaller “schoolie” Stripers that are usually more plentiful at that point of the season. I even asked if you would like to reschedule til there was a better fishing report or later in the season…..You said several times that you all just wanted to go ahead with fishing for schoolie Stripers. When the Schoolie Striper fishing turned out to be quite a bit slower than we ALL had hoped for… I asked you all if you would be ok with going Speckle Trout fishing in an area I knew we would catch more fish. The Speckled Trout had been biting very good at that time. You said yes & so we headed to that area. Unfortunately It started raining heavily on our way there & I asked if you all wanted to keep fishing “which was fine with us” or call it an early day at a discounted price & you ALL chose to call it a early day. If you all wanted to try for the big Striper even after I mentioned that the bite was slow…..you could have just told me so. I would have been perfectly fine with that because you never know unless you try.  As far as “not having bait” I Always have eels in my pot at the dock during Striper season & I had plenty that day as well. It would have been a much easier work day for us & less expensive in fuel to just go & drift eels for the big Striper than to run all over the place trying to find the schoolies but we were trying to get you on a decent bite. We ran to several areas & tried several methods to try to get fish for you all. In fishing….some days are just better than others. YOU even stated several times that you had been on several other charter boats where you had gotten completely skunked. Well…..At least you didn’t get skunked on our boat. We are extremely sorry we didn’t catch MORE or BIGGER fish that particular day!  We always strive to put our customers on good fishing & for the fish they want to catch. We strongly suggest that customers research the best times of the season to catch a certain particular fish.  But….One thing I know for sure about fishing is…Tomorrow is always different!

Wow Daniel…..This is Capt Scott replying. I am pretty upset you guys feel the way you do & have left this type of review. I thought we all had a very good day considering you guys were late for your 2 hour trip…. NOT just 5 minutes & on the trip yall were having a great time laughing, joking & taking pix of all the fish & scenery. The 2 hour trips are mainly a short evening cruise/fishing trip that we have very little time to target many different species of fish. If tons of fish of every species was what you wanted you surely should have booked a much longer trip. Pete only ribbed you guys about possibly drinking too much the night before going fishing & that maybe ran you late. I guess you guys get offended very easily. Also…. the trip description does not say that we WILL catch up to 5-6 species OR that we WILL use live bait. It does mention other species but we have to target the fish that are biting during any given time of the season & sometime we do use live bait & other times we dont….We have been doing this for many years & we know what to use for what is biting. We targeted Spanish & king mackerel, cobia & red drum on your trip. Remember us going by all those bouys & me going out on the bow of the boat searching for schools of fish to cast to? All while we were trolling 6 fishing rods at the same time.  We went above & beyond the normal for the 2 hour trip & did VERY WELL in my eyes! 17 fish in 2 hours is NOT bad & several were above average sized fish! Inshore fishing can be tough sometimes in Va. Beach and Pete & I work very hard for our customers to catch fish & most of the time we do very very well as you can see from many of our most recent 5 star extremely complimentary reviews. As far as “yelling” at you about the tip….that is a huge overstatement. You guys had walked way down the dock before us realizing you had not tipped at all…We just called out to you to ask if you had forgotten. Our trip descriptions, our websites & our confirmation texts all have reminders to please bring a little extra cash for the mate tip & fish cleaners as they are providing a service to you & work for tips only. I suggest researching the time of year, whats biting when, type of trip & how those fish you are targeting are caught a little more before getting upset about your trip. You could have also just called us to see & possibly changed your trip or requested something different. We are very easy guys to talk to. I suggest for anyone who is seeking epic battles with huge fish to go full day offshore fishing & not a 2 hour evening inshore cruise/fishing trip as we are limited on time & distance & have to catch what is available. Basically….You guys booked the cheapest, shortest trip we have available & expected to catch every species in the ocean by every possible tactic available. Those are extremely unreal expectations. Then you come on here & trash our business & names using vulgar language that you were not man enough to talk to us about or say directly to us. You were on an extremely clean & nice 57 foot million dollar plus custom built yacht for less than 2 hours “due to not showing up on time”  & caught 17 fish!! Truthfully I think it was more than that as we could not even keep the boat in gear as we were pulling in fish so often but since you guys were not keeping any of the fish we released everything & dont have pix to show the catch. I would estimate somewhere closer to 25+ fish were caught. I Guess there is always going to be some people that can never be pleased. Anyway…...Thanks again for coming back down & leaving a 4% tip.  Capt. Scott.  Thank you Fishingbooker for cleaning up this customers language. Pete & myself were nothing but friendly, playful & courteous to these guys as we are with ALL customers.
