Captain Travis has fished his whole life. Having grown up in Washington, he fished the entire state and the coast of Washington. He later moved to Oregon where he took up fishing in the shallow waters and in the ocean. Captain Travis is a fun and lovable person whose previous guests have all enjoyed spending time with, and most of whom are repeat customers. He accredits his love of fishing to his late mother who is known to their family as Granny Jean. Captain Travis says his late mother was an avid fisherwoman who had instilled the love of fishing in him from a young age.

    Unforgettable trip

    Long Leader Fishing - Crabbing PM • 4 adults

    We did the long leader/crabbing trip, but the day before our charter they issued a small craft advisory. Thanx to our wonderful captain Travis he got us moved around, but alas the fish were not cooperating. We did catch one but had to throw it back as it was native. Going out to retrieve the crab pots was something none of us will forget! The ocean was not very cooperative, but thanks to captain Travis and captain Shawn we all got our limit.

    Awesome late July Coho Trip

    Salmon • 3 adults • 1 child

    My two sons and i booked a last minute trip for the next day to fish for Coho and crab with SOA. Travis was great communicating the details of the trip. Tom and Fred did an awesome job on the boat keeping us in the fish. Ive been on charters were the captain wont let clients touch rods or equipment, they would hook a fish and hand you the rod. This team really let us be involved in the whole process from making tackle adjustments to checking bait, it was perfect. We had a fantastic trip. Would highly recommend this team.

    amazing salmon fishing

    we had a great time caught alot of fish for the end of the season. josh is amazing he stayed out longer than agreed looking for more fish. hes a great captain and fun to talk to

    Nice clean boat, great crew, and good weather made for a great trip. Saw a pod of Pilot whales and the fish were biting. Excellent day. And yes, the crab pots were full. Thanks to all. I'll be booking a steelhead trip for sure.

    Had to switch guide services

    Special 6 hour trip for Veronica Cashada • 2 adults

    Travis had to cancel on us so he hooked us up with Josh Sutch guide service out of Winchester Bay. Due to a mishap on Josh‘s trailer, he lost a wheel bearing so that put us back an hour and a half from leaving the dock and it also cut our trip short due to. He had another client in the afternoon he needed to take out, but overall the fishing trip was good. He was very professional gave us a discount for the day for the mishap, Mark his deck hand was professional and very helpful. If we ever go back to Winchester Bay I will look Josh up for another fishing trip.

What's biting with SOA Charters - Coos Bay in Coos Bay

You can expect excellent freshwater fishing in fall. Chinook, sea-run Cutthroat, and winter Steelhead are swimming in the streams. Meanwhile, the Empire Lakes offer some of their best Trout and Bass fishing.
