SOA Charters - Coos Bay
SOA Charters fish out of Charleston and Winchester Bay Oregon, offering a variety of fishing trips. They are experts at what they do, and being led by Captain Travis Marsh means they will not only put you on the fish but ensure you are having lots of fun, too!
Captain Travis will take you in search of different species of fish. In the nearshore waters, you can target a variety of Rockfish, Crab, and Lingcod. A little further out, and you could be targeting Halibut, and in the deep offshore waters, you will fish for Bluefin Tuna.
You will fish aboard a 2020 28’ foot Hewes Craft deck boat, powered by twin 150 hp Yamaha engines with a maximum cruising speed of 40 knots. This speed means you don’t waste time on lengthy travel out to the fishing grounds and use it instead on what you came to do. Fishing.
The boat also has all the navigation features such as a GPS and a fishfinder which will help you locate the most productive fishing spots. All fishing gear is provided and includes rods, reels, tackle, live and artificial baits, and all safety equipment such as life jackets.
SOA Charters will happily clean, fillet and bag your fish upon return to the dock, with the exception of Tuna. Tuna can be cleaned on the docks for a small fee by the cleaners available there.
Captain Travis carries a USCG six-pack charter license, he is CPR and First-Aid certified and holds a TWIC card.
Trips can only be booked if there are a minimum of 3 people in the group. License and tags are required ans can be purched online or local retailers.

Crabbing
Family crabbing trip
Booked a crabbing trip for my wife’s 60th birthday and had family fly out from Colorado and what a great experience we had with Captain Tom! Very knowledgeable, great personality and played great music while heading to our pots on a gorgeous Oregon day! We caught our limit in just four pots! Deep water Lingcod & Bottom Fishing
Perfect trip
I had my boys with me who are 6 and 4. Tom made sure to put the extra effort to make this a memorable trip for all of us. My boys had a blast and couldn’t wait to get home and eat their fish and crab. I wasn’t sure how it was going to work with my young kids, but his equipment made it so they could catch fish with ease! They loved the bumpy boat ride, we even saw some wales. They’ll be talking about this experience for a long time!

7 Hour Trip – Smallmouth Bass
Small mouth bass fishing
If you are not a person who fishes often this trip to fish small mouth bass was enjoyable, we caught quite a few fish. We did keep a few to cook however make sure your captain is aware you plan on keeping some. We told our captain we may want to keep some but he didn’t plan ahead & bring a better knife to filet the fish for us. He even mentioned it several times that he should have brought better supplies to take care of the fish. With that being said he could have done better at that for us. I also must advise that with 3 of us plus the captain it was a bit of a tight fit to comfortably fish without crossing lines. Overall not a bad experience just room for improvement on the captain making those who booked the trip feel they weren’t an after thought.

Tavis and Tyler were knowledgeable and great to go out with! They offer to filet your fish if you’d like and even have the crab boiling set up for afterwards if you don’t want to manage the 12 per person limit that you’ll get!!! Long Leader Fishing - Crabbing PM
Crabbing and Rockfish
Definitely an enjoyable charter plenty of crab to be enjoyed after our four hour trip. We didn’t get any rockfish bite so captain was determined to get us on anything that could bite so he switched us to salmon. Captain and his deckhand very nice and cordial would very much recommend him to anyone that has never chartered before or those that have!
