SOA Charters fish out of Charleston and Winchester Bay Oregon, offering a variety of fishing trips. They are experts at what they do, and being led by Captain Travis Marsh means they will not only put you on the fish but ensure you are having lots of fun, too!
Captain Travis will take you in search of different species of fish. In the nearshore waters, you can target a variety of Rockfish, Crab, and Lingcod. A little further out, and you could be targeting Halibut, and in the deep offshore waters, you will fish for Bluefin Tuna.
You will fish aboard a 2020 28' foot Hewes Craft deck boat, powered by twin 150 hp Yamaha engines with a maximum cruising speed of 40 knots. This speed means you don't waste time on lengthy travel out to the fishing grounds and use it instead on what you came to do. Fishing.
The boat also has all the navigation features such as a GPS and a fishfinder which will help you locate the most productive fishing spots. All fishing gear is provided and includes rods, reels, tackle, live and artificial baits, and all safety equipment such as life jackets.
SOA Charters will happily clean, fillet and bag your fish upon return to the dock, with the exception of Tuna. Tuna can be cleaned on the docks for a small fee by the cleaners available there.
Captain Travis carries a USCG six-pack charter license, he is CPR and First-Aid certified and holds a TWIC card.
Trips can only be booked if there are a minimum of 3 people in the group. License and tags are required and can be purchased online or local retailers.

Booked a crabbing trip for my wife’s 60th birthday and had family fly out from Colorado and what a great experience we had with Captain Tom! Very knowledgeable, great personality and played great music while heading to our pots on a gorgeous Oregon day! We caught our limit in just four pots! Nice clean boat, great crew, and good weather made for a great trip. Saw a pod of Pilot whales and the fish were biting. Excellent day. And yes, the crab pots were full. Thanks to all. I'll be booking a steelhead trip for sure.
Travis had to cancel on us so he hooked us up with Josh Sutch guide service out of Winchester Bay. Due to a mishap on Josh‘s trailer, he lost a wheel bearing so that put us back an hour and a half from leaving the dock and it also cut our trip short due to. He had another client in the afternoon he needed to take out, but overall the fishing trip was good. He was very professional gave us a discount for the day for the mishap, Mark his deck hand was professional and very helpful. If we ever go back to Winchester Bay I will look Josh up for another fishing trip.

I had my boys with me who are 6 and 4. Tom made sure to put the extra effort to make this a memorable trip for all of us. My boys had a blast and couldn’t wait to get home and eat their fish and crab. I wasn’t sure how it was going to work with my young kids, but his equipment made it so they could catch fish with ease! They loved the bumpy boat ride, we even saw some wales. They’ll be talking about this experience for a long time!

Captain Travis has fished his whole life. Having grown up in Washington, he fished the entire state and the coast of Washington. He later moved to Oregon where he took up fishing in the shallow waters and in the ocean. Captain Travis is a fun and lovable person whose previous guests have all enjoyed spending time with, and most of whom are repeat customers. He accredits his love of fishing to his late mother who is known to their family as Granny Jean. Captain Travis says his late mother was an avid fisherwoman who had instilled the love of fishing in him from a young age.
