Started out good for the first couple of hours. Caught 3 sharks, and were only able to keep one. For the remainder of the 8 hour trip we went from spot to spot trying the same thing that was not working. We caught a total of 3 fish on an hour trip. Was not impressed.

That’s two of us. I’m very sorry the day turned out like it did and if I’d known ahead of time we would have never left the dock. The fact that it rained all day and it wasn’t supposed to didn’t help . At any rate I’m sorry..

12-hr offshore charter with Captain Roger Sorenson

The description of this charter was extremely misleading. The description stated the trip would “consists of Amberjack (in season) drift fishing for Blackfin Tuna (fall season) and/or trolling for Wahoo, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, and Marlin”. The ONLY reason I chose this trip was because Kingfish was not listed and we were very much NOT interested in catching Kingfish. When we got to the boat in the morning I shared this with the captain and he understood. At the first rig we went to we tried for Amberjack but had no bites and the captain immediately asked us if we wanted to go catch Kingfish, so that obviously annoyed us as that was the one thing we told him we were not interested in. We trolled and caught one Kingfish and one Barracuda. As we continued trolling I almost brought in a Mahi so I asked his deck hand if they schooled up, he told me yes and threw more bait out to try and catch another. In less than 5 minutes the captain was telling the deck hand to reel everything thing in and was taking us somewhere else, so we didn’t even have a chance to try and get another Mahi. At the other drift fishing spots we tried to go for Amberjack but again, not even a bite. The captain then gave us two options, we could go for Kingfish, or we could go for more Amberjack. He did not even ask us if we wanted to try and get ANY OTHER SPECIES LISTED IN HIS DESCRIPTION. We obviously said Amberjack because again, we didn’t want Kingfish, so we spent the entire rest of the day without even a bite so we went in with two fish that you can literally catch one mile from the shore. The deck hand did his best but this captain clearly only knows how to fish for Kingfish. Don’t waste your time with the 12-hr when you can get the same result just one mile offshore. We later went home and did our research only to find they were using way too big of tackle and bait to catch Amberjack. We got completely screwed by this captain, I have never felt more cheated in my life. DO NOT BOOK THIS TRIP IF YOU WANT ANYTHING OTHER THAN KINGFISH.

I am very sorry that you felt cheated…you are the first that has ever expressed that sentiment about our charters. As I understood it your goal was to catch an Amberjack towards which every effort was made to achieve that goal. A total of about 30 minutes was spent Kingfishing…the rest totally devoted to Amberjack. Once again I am sorry but you are not the first to go fishing for Amberjack and come home empty handed. One thing is certain…our live baits were not too big.

I am sorry you feel that way. I tried very hard to convince you before we ever left the dock that in my opinion it was entirely too rough to go fishing. In spite of my warnings you insisted on going anyway. You were also told that I could not be held responsible for the distinct possibility that one or more of you may get seasick to which you were in total agreement.
