Hello Eric, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m sorry to hear that my crew did not meet your expectations. I would like to take this time and address your concerns. I might come off a little blunt and a lot of you will probably think I’m crazy for writing my response, but I will defend my crew when they need defending and this is one of those times. I will not have a customer like you bash my crew and try to make them look bad when the entire time you and your charter were taking care of for 4hrs and taught new fishing techniques (kite fishing)
and get slapped in the face with a 12% gratuity and try to turn it around on them.

The first one I am going to address is your remark and comment about my Captain.
“There are better, more compassionate captains”
Eric, all my captains are all compassionate, they make everyone feel welcomed and they go over and beyond to make sure the customers have a great time, and they TRY THEIR BEST!  As you can see from of our reviews.

You were on a HUGE boat? (At the time of your booking it gives the description of the boat you were booking) so I don’t know where you were going with this comment. And I don’t have an answer for you.

With your comment about “going broke and booked this trip for kids.” I really don’t know why you would have put that in your review, with any extra life activities that someone enjoys gets expensive and you should know this because you own your own boat. If you couldn’t have afford it at the time you should have thought about doing a different activity at the time when your guest were in town. And not write this part in your review- I believe this isn’t anyone’s business to know your financial situation.
I don’t know if you want people to feel sorry for you but again I don’t think this is anyone’s business.

On to your comment about the gratuity, hmm now this is a really sticky situation for not just me but everyone who works in the customer service industry. Your comment was “the captain criticized our 12-ish percent “gratuity”. For such an easy trip for them. No fish filet, special requests, et al.
Wanted 20 %.” My response to you with this matter and my question to you is.. have you ever worked in the customer service industry? With your review/comments I don’t think you have.
My crew members work hard for their gratuity.  12% gratuity is a huge slap in their face. They take care of you and your charter for 4hrs. It doesn’t matter if you catch fish or if they have to filet it. It’s about the effort they put in on the charter (and my crew members put in 100% each trip) I honestly would hate to have you as a customer in a restaurant if you tip only 12%. (That’s just my personal opinion) when I go out to dinner or do anything that involves gratuity I always tip 20% even if I didn’t ask for anything specific. If the food isn’t good or the services isn’t the greatest I still leave a decent gratuity, it’s not the servers fault the food doesn’t come out right or if the server is having an off day/night (everyone isn’t perfect)
I am only answering this As you stated in your review about a server in a restaurant.

Please keep in mind fishing booker and the email you receive from me clearly states that the crew members work for gratuity and 25%-30% is customary.

Now to your comments “We paid extra $100 for a dozen Goggle Eyes. Think we used 5??? Do they offer a refund??” And “Never went out past 300 feet trolling, I believe. Maybe it’s my bad I wasn’t MORE specific of deep-water fish?? live & learn??”
Eric, all of the live bait are preordered as stated upon requesting the live bait.As the owner I pay for the bait up front so we make sure you have the bait the morning of your trip. If you use 1 or all 12 baits you still get charged,  once the trip is over we throw them back in the water. So NO you do not get a refund because the baits were ordered and used. On to the whole trolling part. We absolutely troll and fish outside of 300ft every trip. At any point did you ask the captain how deep the water was? And about your being MORE SPECIFIC about deep-water fish? I don’t understand your comment? Deep -water fish? I think you need to be a little bit more specific! 300ft is considered offshore- fishing has been slow everywhere and I can guarantee you that all the other boat that day didn’t catch anything to take home or put the effort in as my crew members did.

As you commented “a slow and easy day for the captain and crew” Eric, there is NEVER A SLOW AND EASY DAY especially in this business. A slow day doesn’t exist and an easy day is an understatement! All charter boat captains and crew members get frustrated especially when the fishing is slow and they have to make sure the charter has a good time (I’m speaking for everyone out there) so this comment that you stated is another slap in our faces as a charter company. Reagan, Thank you for taking the time to leave your 3.3 star review. I’m very sorry we failed to meet your expectations! You should have reached out to us personally and told us what the problem was and maybe we could have addressed this issue.

I know that you were booked for a previous day, and yes you did call and we spoke about the weather, but unfortunately the morning of your trip the weather was NOT in your favor- here in Florida the weather changed every minute of the day. We rescheduled you for a different day and the weather was better than the day you were booked for.

I would like to know why you were my crew a 3 star and the overall a 3 star? You were on the boat with one of my TOP mates who was with you the entire trip. Never once have we ever had a problem with this crew member.
