I grew up developing a passion for the great outdoors. After working 31 years trying to find time to spend out on the waters, I decided to retire early and open a charter business to share my passion for fishing with others.
Techniques
I target a variety of wrecks by bottom fishing with drop shots or jigs. I utilize cut bait, live bait, and shrimp to entice the waters below. When the bite is slow I love to set out my deep water trolling gear and Cruise about 7 knots waiting to hear the reels twisting. I loved the sound so much, I named my boat twist”n”reels. I have no preferred styles, I just love to be on the water with a reel and pole in my hand or helping others to catch their lifetime fish.

Today the seas were a little rowdy due to an afternoon storm pushing in. We decided to keep it simple and put out some trolling rigs to pull up some Mackerals and Amberjacks. We scored a few nice Spanish Mackerals, picked up a Bonita andn an Amberjack. Afterwards we stopped to bottom fish for a bit and were able to snag a nice Mangrove snapper, a few Vermillion snappers, Triggerfish, and Red Snappers.

This past week we have been battling heavy winds and rains. The water temps have been very inconsistent but range from 68 to 71 degrees. Our water color has been like chocolate milk from all the runoffs. However, we are seeing an uptick of spanish mackerals and the bite should be heating up throughout April and May. Offshore we are seeing alot of great grouper catches with red grouper and gags. We predict once our weather temps stabilize and the water begins to warm a few degrees we will start picking up King Mackerel and a few stray cobias swimming around. Riggt now there is alot of running and gunning from spot to spot to pick up some quality catches such as porgies, vermillion, red and lane smappers along with those triggerfish. Basically, the only opportunity to get out there and hook a good fish is to go do it. Late April through November is some of the best times to get out on the water. So lets get out there and go fishing.

We did a quick offshore trolling trip today. Although the bite is still a bit slower than normal for this time of year, we were able to hook up on some nice Amberjack. The bottom bite is producing variety such as porgies, lane snappers, and red snappers. Inshore we are still picking up some noce sheepshead and mangrove snappers on the jetties and rock piles.

We started the morning in search if a few sheepshead before heading off to hunt some Vermilion snapper. Although the bite is still a bit slow do to all the recent cold fronts, we were able to put a few in the box for our guests. As our days start to warm up, the fishing will get better for sure. Today we caught Lane Snapper, Vermillion snapper, grunts, mangrove snapper, and sheepshead.

Every year we get about a month long migration of sheepshead that come to our sandy beaches to spawn during mid-March thru April. As they move in they will pile up on rock structures, bridges, and jetties. This is a great opportunity to catch some of these heavy fighting fish on light tackle set ups. During the month of March and April book any 3-4 hour inshore trip to target these fish. We have dates available! But they fill fast as our weather improves. So book with us today to get on some great spring action!
