My son & I booked a half day trip while we were in town this summer in Mid July.  We went out around 6 am and the weather looked amazing as we got to the fishing grounds the weather was turning. Capt assured us we would be ok. He was extremely knowledgeable about the weather and managed to keep us out there away from the passing storms all while combing the seas for fish.  We brought up a couple of small Mahi, and some Bonita but were limited on where we could go due to the storms. All in all we had a great time. Andy knows his trade,  has great gear & employs great technique. Fishing is fun aboard the Avi Mar and I highly recommend it.

We have fished with Andy several times and book him when he is available.  Always had good action on every trip.  He knows the water and the fish well- any weather, any conditions.  10 mahi and 10 tuna last trip- kept dinner and released many. My son loves fishing with Avimar- had my father, my brother, and my nephew on past trips.  Hi music playlist is great too though didn’t get to it last trip because we were too busy catching fish!

Best fishing trip I’ve ever done, took my son out and he learned so much about trolling and the different type of fish he could catch. We caught Wahoo and Mahi some were caught on the planer. And at the end we were able to eat out catch at whiskey Joe’s where they cook your fish fresh.

What an amazing experience with Captain Andres and first mate Danny. I can’t recommend this trip enough, from the boat to the team’s knowledge to their excitement in being out on the water. It’s probably the best fishing experience I’ve ever had. I learned so much about how to locate fish, why they might be active in certain areas at certain times, and how to use various indicators out at sea to maximize my chances.

I took my dad on a seven-hour trip and told Captain I’d like to try a few different fishing techniques to target various species. We combined trolling, kite fishing, and bottom fishing to catch the following:

- sailfish
- blackfin tuna
- amberjack
- king mackerel
- reef shark

Captain did everything possible to put us on the fish. We trolled four lines, put up two kites, used various prized live baits (purchased some and caught some on our own), and even stayed long when I hooked into a monster amberjack just before we were about to head back. Danny had a hunch to drop a pinfish to the bottom, and what ensued was an epic battle with the strongest fish I’ve ever felt. I’m writing this on Monday and still sore from catching this fish on Friday.

When we finally landed this monster after a 50+ minute battle (watch the video), you can feel the excitement of everyone onboard. The crew genuinely wanted to land this fish; even though we were over the allotted time, they were telling me it was a game of inches and to remain patient. I’ve been on other trips and you can tell who really wants to be there and who is just taking their boat out for you. These guys love to fish and that love is contagious.

Once returning to the marina, Danny prepared our fish and gave me some recipes (including how to prepare tuna tataki, which was incredible). He also immediately sent me the photos and videos he had taken that day.

If you have the opportunity to get out on the water with Captain, I can’t recommend it enough. I’ll be bringing other friends and family in the near future.
