My brother and I, both lifelong anglers from Pennsylvania, recently booked a guided largemouth bass trip on Grapevine Lake with Captain Seth of GTB Outdoors—and it turned out to be one of the best fishing experiences we’ve ever had.

Captain Seth, an accomplished understudy of the well-known Captain Gilbert, demonstrated a level of preparation, insight, and professionalism that set the tone for an incredible day on the water. Fishing in completely unfamiliar waters, we relied on his expertise—and he delivered. He had pre-fished the lake earlier in the week and selected lures specifically based on water temperature, lake level, and bass behavior in the current weather conditions.

What impressed us most was his methodical approach. Captain Seth patiently walked us through his lure choices—several of which were brand new to us despite our combined 80+ years of fishing experience. He also explained the structure we were targeting, encouraged us to fish aggressively even when it meant risking snags, and it paid off big time—we landed some fantastic bass!

Captain Seth was generous with his knowledge, answering all our questions thoroughly and teaching us techniques and strategies we’ll take home to use on our own waters in Pennsylvania. He’s not just a guide—he’s a true teacher and professional.

Gilbert was the perfect captain - knowledgeable, kind and patient.  We fished Joe Pool Lake, and it was obvious he knew the lake extremely well.  We caught quite a few bass and had a great time.  He also let us use his trailer to practice towing, where it became clear that the man was simply made to teach.  Whether you are new to fishing or just want to go fishing without any hassle, you can’t go wrong with GTB Outdoors.  We will definitely hire him again.

Today, my friends and I spent a wonderful day fishing in Dallas with Captain Gilbert Miller from GTB Outdoors, who provided an outstanding guide service. Wonderful fishing day trip on Joe Pool Lake! Gilbert is a wonderful guild and incredibly knowledgeable about the art of fishing. He made me feel comfortable the whole time and he is always there to help you and answer questions.  He took me fishing around the entire lake which was beautiful.
