Chandler Williams reply to my text below: I changed ur fishing time based off the tides. I do this everyday so there for I have more Experince in this than you do. And have been all over the world doing it. That’s why you chartered me. I moved your trip trying to make it better because this entire fishery does not work off of morning bites. This isn’t a pond with bass. I didn’t have anything going on that morning I was legit trying to give you the best fishing time. I don’t do this for money I want you to catch fish just as much as you do. I didn’t let most of your live bait die my hidden content live well broke. Which I’m not happy about ether! My tackle needed leaders and hooks cause I cut everything off everyday so that everything is fresh so your not losing fish from faults from used leaders etc. I’m pretty sure I tried making conversation with y’all I sure as hidden content didn’t sit on that boat quite the whole time. I felt bad it was slow after you had two tarpon bites and the flats sucked,  so I offered you 100 off being the good person I am. I’m not a shark fishing charter, I don’t fish for hidden content. I fish for the fish that make this place what it is. Write ur horrible review I’m not refunding you, hahah the 100 I offered you cause it was extremely slow. Don’t book a flats charter book a reef charter next time

My text to Chandler,

This is Chris Sanders… you took me and my girlfriend out “fishing” on Thursday, March 2 at 2p.

After having some time to think about the trip, I have some thoughts and comments that I would like to share with you and give you the opportunity to make this better before I post a review.

1)    You need to listen to your customer…. I told you several times we wanted more action than fishing for a trophy catch. I told you this via text and when we were on the water.

2)    You were unprepared… you need to have lures/hooks tied on your poles before your customer arrives.

3)    You changed our fishing time from morning to afternoon. In my experience, fishing is usually better in the morning. You obviously had something else going on that morning because you had tried to see if I could move my time/day a week before and I told you “no”. You then told me the night before that the “tide” was better and we needed to go out at 2p instead of 8a.

4)    My girlfriend did not get 1 bite all day… should have taken us somewhere to catch a couple small ones at the very least.

5)    During the “golden hour” you took us again to the shallows to “site” fish with artificial, instead of fishing with live bait

6)    You let most of your live bait die

7)    We should have fished for sharks. I had a blast for 3 minutes fighting that fish.

8)    Need to be more personable… tell stories about all the places you have fished, etc. Seemed like you were more interested setting up your Saturday’s client fly fishing trip than making sure we were enjoying our trip.

9)    You felt at least some responsibility because you offered us $100 off our next trip to Key West. Sorry man, we don’t get down to Key West, so there won’t be next time.

I realize “fishing ain’t catching”, but we are in Key West in March and the weather was stable… should have caught something. At minimum, I am expecting $150 back from you. (The $100 off you promised for the next trip and the unearned $50 tip I should have not given you).

Nice enough guide. Obviously a good fisherman himself. We spent I’d say 75 percent of the time going between fishing places around the entire key. We were on a much smaller boat due to the other boat being in the shop so it was cramped. Maybe it was a bad day to fish. I did catch 5 fish and that was fun. This may be how all the trips are, this was our first. Just certainly didn’t seem to be worth the $ for the boat trip. Cool guy though. Probably won’t do a offshore charter again since I have a feeling they all are like this. If you’re used to offshore fishing and know what to expect, I’m sure you would have enjoyed the trip.

2 hr 7am-9am trip paid 300 bucks. Didn’t even get on the boat till 7:10 pulled out of marina at 7:20. Drove us to a pier we casted 4-5 times each we were getting bites but said we had to go. Then took a 30 minute boat ride to the flats and only let 1 person cast my other friend who paid just had to sit there. We spent 30-40 minutes in the flats and casted twice. He saw some fish and never said cast because “we’d be reeling it in till 9:30” We spent 80% of the trip driving the boat. 10% fishing 10% him spotting fish. So for 300 bucks and casting 4/5 times only feels like you got ripped off. Captain was very cool but seems like he was more worried about the next group then letting us fish.

Poles were definitely sub par, captain seemed uninterested from the get go. Really not sure that we actually got liscensed. Didn’t even bother getting a fresh bag of ice for the cooler that he kept BAIT AND DRINKS in. Gatorade that I provided tasted like bait. Spent a lot of time driving from place to place and not a lot of time fishing, which I understand that fish aren’t always were you think they’d be but they were nowhere he’d thought they’d be. Overall about a 2 out of 10 for Hook 1 charters.
