I’ve debated on leaving this review, but I want people to be aware of this charter experience.  This was my 5th charter experience. It was by far the worst experience I’ve had.
The trip included my stepdad, son, and his friend and was planned as my son’s senior trip.  The charter started with the captain complaining because someone had moved his boat.  He was very upset and complained while trying to get the boat out.  He did not welcome us, cover safety equipment, ask why we were on a charter, or have any kind of conversation. He just said to get on the boat so it doesn’t scrape on the dock.
Once on board, he rearranged our seating to balance the boat.  I understand that, but we had already balanced with the two boys in the center seat and me and my stepdad opposite.  He asked me to stay in the center seat the entire time I was on the boat so I didn’t tip it or cause us to flip.  Okay, I’m a plus-size woman (I wear an XL - size 14/16) and don’t weigh any more than my stepdad. I’ve been on boats the same size as this one and was never concerned about tipping a boat. Every time I tried to move locations I was asked to return to the center while the others moved around at will. I finally told the kids that in spite of the fat shaming I was not going to sink or tip the boat and they were welcome to the center seat. 
Additionally, he wouldn’t let us cast because his line was $30 and each rig set up was $12.  He was definitely more concerned about his equipment than us fishing or having a nice time. At one point, I had a fish on my line and pulled up to set the hook and he had a line on top of me above my head I didn’t know about. Needless to say, the lines got tangled.  He yelled at me to stop reeling and told me he didn’t care about the fish on my line because his $30 line was more important.
He also had all the reels set up left-handed.  All my other charters asked if we needed right-hand or left-hand setups.  To his credit, about halfway through the trip, he did find a right-handed reel for me.
There was lots of complaining from the captain about being tired and the anchor being heavy.  As a result, we barely left the dock and didn’t even get a decent boat ride out of it.  I’m sure it was because of the expense of the fuel.
We were getting bites, but very few keepers and he only fished one area the entire 6 hours.  He also let us know that we were “not too good to count out loud” and that was why we weren’t pulling in more fish. We moved around that one area but never left it to try for other fish.  All we were pulling in was small reds, small black drums, hard heads, and a few croakers. At the end of the 6-hour trip, we took home 1 redfish, 2 black drums, and 4 croakers between the 4 of us.  The last trip my husband and I took we spent 4 hours on the bay and came in with 15 fish including drum, red, and trout. 
Oh and did I mention he smoked and I have asthma?  Thank goodness it was windy. Oh and be sure and bring your own water.  He doesn’t provide that or a space for you to bring a cooler only a soft-sided bag you can put under the bow.
I highly recommend a fishing charter in the bay, but pick another captain!

Solid Captain, older boat could used some maintenance. Good day on the water and caught some Speckled Trout and enjoyed the company.

Captain Cody is a top-notch fisherman.  He really does know the bay like it’s his own backyard.  He worked hard to make sure our Man’s Day was unforgettable.  We were able to feed our large family with the catch all weekend long.  Already planning our second outing with Cody later this year . . . highly recommend!!

Captain Cody put us on fish quickly!  He knows this bay like the back of his hand.  He went above and beyond helping my 10 year old land fish.  Thanks captain for the tip with my lure.  I went from 60% to 90% on my hookups.  We will definitely see you late fall for another trip!!!!
